Jerry was born on August 12th, 1931 in Milwaukee to Ludwig and Cecilia Schaefer. Jerry graduated from Boys Tech in 1951. He served in the United States Army during the Korean War. He married his childhood sweetheart Dororthy Day on July 12th, 1952. He then worked at the Wisconsin Electronic Power company until his retirement in 1991.
After retirement, Jerry spent many years at his and Dorothy's cottage in Northern Wisconsin.
He is survived by his loving wife of 73 years and his son Anthony (Patricia) Schaefer, along with several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his son James and his parents.
Jerry's memory will be cherished by those who knew him best.
Gathering will take place on Saturday, March 21, 2026 at Krause Funeral Home, 9000 West Capitol Drive, Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Visitation from 2:00 PM – 3:15 PM with Service to begin at 3:30 PM.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Macular Degeneration Foundation.
