Richard Ringhand Obituary

Ringhand, Richard Allen Richard left this world on February 12, 2011, with his immediate family at his side. Left to mourn his absence is his father Frederick, his wife Mary Roidt Ringhand, his children Nicholas, Allison and Charles, step-daughter Abbey Roidt-Jernberg and Michelle, many, many good friends, especially Marshall, Bill, Ken, Koleus, the Woodlawn Eight, Aunt Barbara and other relatives including two grandchildren. Richard was preceded in death by his mother, Lorraine. Richard loved life and lived it always on his terms. He was a devoted and loving father who was very proud of Nick, Alli and Chip. He was very happy to have his father live with him, and he was a kind and generous husband and friend to Mary over the past ten years. Richard was an MPS teacher who embraced the profession with much passion. His cancer diagnosis was just another obstacle to him that interfered only with his ability to continue teaching math. This hurt him more than all of the treatments he endured over the past two years. We know Rich is now listening to his favorite musicians, talking about the time he was president of the a cappella choir, and discussing the Packers with his brother-in-law Steve. The family would like to thank Dr. Hari and his staff for their dedicated care, especially Sara. We also would like to thank Wolf, the nurse who provided Richard with so much respect, dignity, and comfort in his final hours. He was an angel. We love you Richard (really poor) Ringhand! The family would like to invite friends and relatives to their home on Saturday, February 19, 2011, starting at 12 noon for a celebration of Richard's life. Any memorials may be made in Richard's name to the Humane Society of Wisconsin.

Rich was a winderful athlete in high school, a track sprinter no less. He was a positive influence on my life, even though he was a year younger.

My friend Rich helped me organize Marshall High's annual Mini-Reunion at Irish Fest. We had many good times --- from our misadventures Tiolet Papering the wrong house; to talking about his Mo-Ped or his Family. --- Love You Rich and will always remember our time together. God Keep You Well My Friend

Mr. Ringhand was my 6th Grade teacher at 38th Street MANY years ago. I remember having a crush on him and being jealous of his friendship with the music teacher:) He was a wonderful teacher and I've thought of him periodically over the years. I'm now 46 years old and was saddened to see the news of his passing. It sounds like he's led a wonderful life and my heartfelt sympathy goes out to his family.

I know I can speak for the "Big Five" when I say that to be able to share the carefree years we did, laugh as much as we did, and love each other as much as we clearly did, provided memories that will keep Rich living life loud for many years to come. May he find the peace he so deserves.
