Richard Frederick Ringhand, 87, of Augusta, passed away Wednesday, July 5, 2023, at his home with hospice care.
Richard was born Nov. 6, 1935, the son of Frederick and Charlotte (Karow) Ringhand. He was raised with his 4 siblings in Augusta. He was baptized and confirmed at Grace Lutheran Church, and graduated from Augusta High School. He went on to graduate in 1957 with a Bachelor of Science Degree from UW-Eau Claire. In his earlier years, he worked at the Augusta Union Newspaper and Shedd Brown Printing in Eau Claire.
Richards served in the National Guard for 9 years and was honorably discharged after actively serving from 1961 to 1963.
Richard was united in marriage to Sandra Kunz of Fall Creek on Nov. 10, 1962, at St. James Trinity Lutheran Church in Fall Creek. The couple farmed until retirement in 1991. Following retirement, he worked in maintenance for 20 years at WalMart.
Richard will be dearly missed by Sandra, his loving wife of 60 years; 3 daughters, Toni (Kenneth) Erlandson of Fergus Falls, MN, Lori (Dan Lorentz) Ringhand of Athens, GA, Julie (Mike) Ives of Appleton; 10 grandchildren, Stephanie (Noah) Heidorn, Molly (Travis) Woltmann, Darius Erlandson, Richard (Jessica) Erlandson, Michael Erlandson, Emily (Hayden) Brown, Alex Erlandson, Gabe Johnson, Lukas Ives and Nicholas Ives; 6 great grandchildren; and 2 brothers-in-law, Jim Colvin of Augusta and Gary (Opal) Kunz of Fall Creek; several nieces and nephews.
Richard was preceded in death by his parents; 3 sisters, Alice Lowman, Betty Rasmussen and Sharon
Colvin; and brother Eugene Ringhand.
A visitation will be held Monday, July 10, 2023, from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. at Grace Lutheran Church in
Augusta, where funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday.
Burial will follow in the West Lawn Cemetery in Augusta. The family is assisted by Anderson Funeral Home in Augusta.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Grace Lutheran Church, HSHS St. Joseph's Hospice, or the organization of your choice.
