Rita Y. Michalak

Michalak, Rita Y. (Nee Glazewski ) Age 88, of Milwaukee, passed away peacefully October 2, 2015 surrounded by loving family and friends in the comfort of her home. Preceded in death by her husband Edward and siblings Regina Bohusch and Carl Glazewski. She will be dearly missed by daughters Barb (Bill Drogemuller) Michalak, Mary Michalak, Cindy Michalak and Jean (David) Palkert; grandsons Doug and Eric McCabe and Nathan, Stephen and Robbie Palkert; many other relatives and friends. The family wishes to extend their gratitude to dear friends Edith and Bonnie and special caregivers Stacey, Gayle and Fatoumata, as well as other Advantage Home Care staff. Rita graduated from Mercy high school in 1945 and worked for nine years as a bank teller at National Savings and Loan, where she met her husband of 52 years. Her greatest passion in life was her family. Rita was a devoted wife and mother and she raised her four daughters to be strong women like herself. As a grandmother, she loved, taught and emotionally supported her five grandsons until her death. Rita participated in many organizations, focusing on the Polish culture and community. She served on the board of Polanki (Polish Women's Cultural Club) for many years and helped to fulfill the dream of the Polish Community Center in WI. Other organizations included the International Institute, Kosciuszko Foundation, Polish Fest, Polish National Alliance, and the Polish-American Philatelic Club. She received many honors and awards from Polish-American organizations for selflessly giving of her time, resources and talents. Visitation Saturday, Oct. 17 at 9 AM at Our Lady Queen of Peace Catholic Church, 3222 S. 29th St., followed by the Memorial Mass of Christian Burial at 12 PM. Private entombment St. Adalbert Cemetery. Please enter the Our Lady Queen of Peace parking lot from S. 27th St. In lieu of flowers, memorials are appreciated to Polanki, The Polish Center or to the charity of your choice.
