Robert Schaefer Obituary

Schaefer, Robert J. "Bob" Fire Chief Slinger, age 58, passed away Aug. 20, 2007 surrounded by his loving family after a courageous battle with cancer. Beloved husband of Sherry (nee Bahr). Loving father of Brad (Tracey), and Amy (Jon) Schlicht. Further survived by 4 grandchildren, Mackenzie, Mathias, Caitlin, and Jenna; 6 siblings, other special relatives and friends. Preceded in death by parents, Mathias and Lucille Schaefer; brother, Kenny; and other relatives. Owner and operator of Schaefer's Service Center and Schaefer's Amoco. Member and Fire Chief of Slinger Fire Department. Member of St. Peter's Catholic Church. Visitation Sat., Aug. 25, 2007, from 2-8:30PM, at the funeral home, with Prayer Vigil at 8:30PM. Fire Departments walk-through at 6PM. Mass of Christian Burial Sun., Aug. 26, 2007, at 4:30PM, at St. Peter's Catholic Church (202 E. Washington St., Slinger, WI 53086), with Fr. Stoffel officiating. Interment of Ashes at (new) St. Peter's Catholic Cemetery at a later date. Family requests no flowers; in lieu of flowers memorials donated to either Wisconsin State Firefighters Memorial (P.O. Box 248, Wisconsin Rapids, WI 54495-4440) or Sarcoma Foundation of America (9884 Main St., P.O. Box 458 Damascus, MD 20872). The Schaefer Family would like to extend their sincere appreciation to Dr. Kurt Konkel, Dr. Hackbarth and staff, Dr. Hari, and all the staff at Froedtert Lutheran Memorial Hospital for their compassionate and professional care given to Bob. They would also like to thank the Slinger Fire Department, all their employees, and family and friends for the support and love that was extended to Bob and their family during this time.
