Russell Hitchcock Obituary

Russell Lawrence Hitchcock

Milwaukee - Russell Lawrence Clyde Hitchcock, resident of Milwaukee, formerly of Shorewood, born October 18, 1939, passed away at the age of 81 on February 19, 2021. He was the devoted husband of 61 years to Bonnie Mae Hitchcock (nee Runge), father to Jeff (wife Brenda), Larry, Peggy (partner Mike), and Patty. He was the grandfather of Marissa, Kathryn, Madison, Max, Tim, Rusty, Katie, and Grace, and the great grandfather of Connor and Everly. With Bonnie, he was the doting owner of many dogs, most recently Sandy, who continues to comfort Bonnie. Russell was the eldest son of the late Robert C. and Janet J. Hitchcock (nee Smith), brother of the late John Hitchcock, Robert Hitchcock, and Nancy Ollman. Russ is further survived by other relatives and good friends throughout the world.

Russ Hitchcock grew up in Shorewood, Wisconsin, attending St. Robert's grade school, Marquette High School, and Marquette University. He met his wife Bonnie when he was sixteen years old while Bonnie was attending Holy Angels High School.

Though Russ created and built a business spanning the globe, with offices in the US, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Australia, and Germany, when asked what he did, he said, simply, that he was a salesman.

Russ took great pride in being a husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather. He enjoyed years of vacationing together with his family, from summers in Boulder Junction, Wisconsin, holidays in Florida, Spring Flings in Jamaica and the Bahamas, but mostly retreating to the family cottage on a small lake north of Milwaukee, which he affectionately referred to as "Golden Pond."

The family wishes to thank the medical and support teams at Ascension Columbia-St. Mary's in Milwaukee and at Horizon's Lawlis Family Hospice within Columbia St. Mary's, Ozaukee, for their kind and attentive care. A private service to honor Russ will be held at a later time.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Milwaukee Rescue Mission, 830 N. 19th Street, Milwaukee, WI 53233. Online donations can be made at https://donate.milmission.org/donation.html
