Sally Carson Obituary

Carson, Sally J. Found peace on Sept. 29, 2018, age 84 years. Beloved wife of the late Richard. Cherished mother of Tracey (Bill Zaferos) Carson and Dirk (Carol) Carson. Loving grandmother of Haley and Alex (fiancee, Christine Jennings) Carson. Dearest fiance of Terry Marshall. Further survived by other relatives and a fiercely loyal tribe of friends. Sally was a force who carried herself with grace and dignity. Her career began by inspiring young people to embrace music and understand its power to transform. Later she established and as President and CEO ran Innovative Interiors. Her impressive list of clients were among Milwaukee's biggest corporations and private residences, and her impeccable taste was well respected. Sally's philanthropic and volunteer work was vast, notably as a docent for the Milwaukee Art Museum, board of director work for the College Endowment for the Arts and donating her creative skills to multiple Breast Cancer Awareness homes. But, Sally's greatest joy came in family who represent her legacy of love. There was never a birthday, holiday or an accomplishment that went without celebration. The Carson family is a small but mighty crew and its matriarch was a joyful, loving, mischievous, generous leader. In Pennsylvania, Sally was born to a father who was a postal carrier whose wife contracted polio ultimately resulting in Quadriplegia, but was still able to give birth to Sally. She met her future husband, graduated from college and together Dick and Sally Carson began a decades-long life together which culminated in a final move to Wisconsin. To know Sally was to know love, joy, generosity and, of course, her family. A Memorial Service will be held at 3:00 pm on Sunday, October 7, 2018 at Immanuel Presbyterian Church 1100 N. Astor St.. Family and friends will continue to celebrate Sally's life following the service from 4:30 pm - 6:30 pm at 1451 Renaissance Place, located at 1451 N. Prospect Ave.. In lieu of flowers, memorials to Wisconsin Conservatory of Music or the Milwaukee Art Museum are appreciated. Suminski / Weiss LifeStory Funeral Home 414-276-5122 SuminskiFuneralHome.com

Not sure what to say?

Dearest Sally, We saw one another through memorable times. Some of them were difficult; most were a 'hoot', as you liked to say. Whether in Milwaukee or Paris, we never just observed life, we lived it in style. That was the spirit that animated us both. Hemingway's definition of courage was: 'grace under pressure'. It fits the bill. You were courageous to the end. With love from London: Your friend in life everlasting, Chris.

Sally was one of my wonderful friends from CEA - College Endowment Association. Getting to know her was easy because she was so bright & spirited. We shared a lunch at George Watts Tea Room several years ago & I will never forget her charm & humor. She will be missed by many.

Sally Carson ASID
Sally Carson, a great true friend who always stood up for what she believed. It was my privilege to have known and worked with her. Listening while not judging, waiting to hear all that is said then responding in a positive manner. These standards Sally always offered everyone she met. Sally's design talents, such as use of color and perspective resulted from her love & knowledge of art and history. Sally focused on her clients' interest to highlight their life and blend this into their personal lifestyle. A true friend, one I will always remember.
