We are heartbroken to learn of Tom's passing. We literally just found out, as we weren't notified. We were worried about him and started making calls...
Tom was a dear friend to my husband, Jim Sipes (PGA). He has visited our home many times, was a frequent member our football pool, and such a great man. We will truly miss him.

As a cousin and friend of the McCarthy family, several memories of Tom leap out at me. When he was about 4 years old I was babysitting for the McCarthy children and Tom jumped off of a picnic table. Then he proudly proclaimed that his dad had told him that girls weren't able to to that, only boys could. Of course I had no choice but to jump off the table and have his older sister, Mary Pat, jump off. Tom was stunned and I told him to be sure to tell his dad.
Years later with the McCarthys as neighbors, Tom would often practice golf in our yard with my dad, Vic. My dad had had many golf "students" but Tom was clearly the best. Vic loved watching Tom's golf improve over the years, and hear of his many successes.
My husband, Mark, and I had a great time at Tom's wedding. It was a wonderful opportunity to reconnect with all of the McCarthy family and celebrate.
A couple years later Mark and I were invited by Tom to play a round of golf with him at the course at which he was the pro. Mark and I knew we would totally stink in comparison to Tom. We told Tom that the caddies he had arranged for would have trouble walking and not rolling on the ground laughing at our awful shots. He assured us, "They won't laugh if I'm there." He was right. The caddies showed tremendous self-control. Tom also proved his tremendous ability to say positive and encouraging comments in any situation, even about our pitiful golf shots.
Tom's smile, friendly personality and genuine warmth will be lovingly remembered. We love you, Tom, and wish you peace in Paradise.
Love,
Brigid Riordan

Always loved Tom. Such a good man. We grew up in the golf industry together in the Philadelphia area. Tom always took great care of me and my members on our winter vacations to Naples. He was so much fun. Loved Tom. An ace and true professional.

The McCarthy's were childhood friends of our family, when we all lived on Plainfield Avenue. Tommy, you look just as sweet and lovable now, as you were as a child! My deepest sympathy to Mr. & Mrs. McCarthy and Mary, Margaret, Jane, Kate, Elizabeth, Jim and your families. Also sending my deepest sympathy to Tom's wife and family. It is never easy losing a loved one, but I do believe that Tom is in a better place. May God wrap his loving arms around all of you, and help you through this most difficult time in all of your lives. Rest peacefully, Tom, and May God Bless all of you!
Sincerely,
Kathy Reynolds Heming

I know Tom only a short time but he always had a smile and time to give advice at Golfsmith. He truly loved golf and shared that enthusiasm with all.

I must say that Tom was an exceptional person that always had nothing but compliments for his fellow man. I have only known him for a few months, but his warmth as a human being will be with me forever!

I am deeply saddened for your loss. I didn't know Thom all that well, we were colleagues under the same employer. I wish we had taken the time for deeper conversations other than those work related, but, I know he was a hard working, dedicated gentleman, and that he will be sorely missed. RIP, Thom

We miss your very calm, unassuming guidance to improve our golf game. Most of all, we miss knowing you will be in the golf shop helping us with whatever we need. You helped me with my latest club selection and even double wrapped my grips so I'll have a part of you with me always.
