Fr. Brian Harrington, Pastor of the Church, will be the Celebrant of the Mass and will conduct the Burial Rite in the Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Mausoleum on Hwy 35.
Frances "Kate" Colligan Lansou, Matriarch of the Colligan family in
Church Point, LA. and dedicated supporter of
St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, passed away peacefully at home at the age of 82. Born in Church Point, Kate lived a life full of devotion, laughter and zest. She was the beloved wife of 33 years to Brian Lansou and the proud mother of four: the late Patrick Ronald "Ronnie" Smith Jr., the late James Rutland "Rutty" Smith, Frances "Arlette" Smith Lauga (Ray), Louis "Reggie" Smith (Maria) and stepson Brian Lansou Jr. (Brittney).
Kate was the cherished daughter of the late Dallas and Violet Mae Colligan and a loving sister to the late Faye Colligan Guidry (Shirley Ray), Marcella Colligan Abshire (Charles), David "Butch" Colligan (Laura), Dallas Colligan (Cathy) and Melanie "Mel" Bellard (Paul). Her family legacy continues through her grandchildren-Ashley Smith Westerfield, Jonathan Smith (Kellie), Julia Smith, Brenna Lauga, Beau Smith, Gavin Lansou-and great-grandchildren Carter, Jackson, Hensley Westerfield, Averie, Camden and Alexandria Kate Smith. She is also survived and fondly remembered by many nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends.
Throughout her life, Kate was known for her unwavering work ethic and entrepreneurial spirit. She owned businesses and was admired for her dedication and determination throughout her career. Her adventurous heart found joy in frequent getaways to the Smokey and Appalachian Mountains with Brian, where they made treasured memories together. Kate's presence lit up every room-her exceptional unfiltered quick wit and signature "I only had two beers" response left loved ones laughing time and again. She embraced her culture fully, dancing to French music with beer over ice in hand, and enthusiastically volunteered Brian (as well as herself) at community events like the Buggy Festival and Autumn Festivals. Mardi Gras was a favorite of hers, and her elaborate celebrations in New Orleans and Church Point live on in the memories of friends and family.
Pallbearers will be Jonathan Smith, Beau Smith, Gavin Lansou, Carter Westerfield, Jackson Westerfield and Nick Colligan. Honorary pallbearers will be Dallas and Butch Colligan.
The family would like to thank Allegiance Home Health and Allegiance Hospice for their outstanding care for Kate and her family. The family would also like to thank Kate's care givers Debbie Prejean, Carol Bellard, Vicky Bergeron, and Tammy Louvier for their care and the special moments they shared with Kate.
A true original, Kate will be remembered for the love she gave, the joy she shared, and the indomitable spirit she carried. Her legacy lives on in the stories and laughter she inspired and the many, many hearts she touched.
