Ellen Dyer Obituary

Ellen Marie Dyer

April 15, 1945 - December 24, 2024

Whitney, Texas - Ellen Marie Dyer (Taylor), age 79, of Whitney, TX, passed away peacefully on December 24, 2024. She was born on April 15, 1945, in Wichita, KS, to Harry Marvin Taylor and Phyllis Marie (McNew) Forsyth. Ellen was also deeply loved by her stepmother, Margaret J. (Scott) Taylor, and stepfather, Oscar Harold "Red" Forsyth, all of whom preceded her in death.

Ellen was the beloved wife of Stanley "Stan" Eugene Dyer and together they shared a life full of adventures, laughter, and unforgettable memories. She is survived by her children: Denise Blake and husband Robbin "Rob", Derek Nicholson and wife Lenea, Daren Nicholson and wife Michelle, Dana Compagnone and husband Craig, and stepson Brian Dyer.

Ellen was a proud grandmother of 12 - Joseph, Joshua, Justin, Emily, Tristan, Devon, Morgan, Avery, Izzy, Sophia, Zoe, and Rosalie - and a loving great-grandmother to 7. She was a cherished sister to her brother and lifelong best friend, Marvin Taylor of Olathe, KS. Her stepbrother, Kent Turpin of Wichita, KS, also held a special place in her heart.

A graduate of Southeast High School and Emporia State University, Ellen went on to become a dental assistant for 30+ years. She was an avid pickleball player for 24 years, always eager to teach anyone interested in the game. Ellen's talents earned her gold, silver, and bronze medals in mixed-doubles at the Senior Olympics. Alongside Stan, she enjoyed the RV lifestyle, exploring the country, making friends, and living their dream together. Whether on the road or riding with Stan on their Goldwing motorcycle through all 48 lower states, Mexico, and Canada, Ellen lived and loved life to the fullest.

Ellen will be remembered as a warm, approachable, and natural conversationalist who made everyone feel welcome. She was a straight shooter - a big personality in a small package - unafraid to share her perspective while remaining kind-hearted and true to herself.

In keeping with her wishes, there will be no services. Per her request, please no flowers or donations. Instead, Ellen's family encourages you to honor her spirit in your own way.

I met Ellen in 8th grade at Meade Intermediate school. We became good friends and helped each other with homework. We went on together at Southeast High School and remained close friends. Ellen was a wonderful person and will be truly missed. My condolences to her family.
