Knudtson, Dr. Eric James Aged 46, died in his home on July 29, 2016. Eric is survived by his loving wife of 20 years, Julie, and his two daughters, Claire and Margot of the home. Dr. Knudtson was a Maternal Fetal Medicine specialist with Oklahoma Health Sciences Center, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, since 2003. He served there as an Associate Professor and Fellowship Director. During this time, Eric mentored and taught hundreds of medical students throughout his tenure, earning him the Faculty Teacher Award in both 2011 and 2013. In addition, Eric earned a master's degree in Public Health in 2015. He cared passionately for his patients and he worked tirelessly to raise the quality of care for all women and children. Eric published extensively in journals, was a sought after speaker in his field, and he conducted numerous research projects. Eric was a private and humble man. Few realized the extent of his accomplishments. Eric had a selfless nature. For example, he received the Undaunted Courage Award from OUHSC Trauma Services in 2015. This award recognized Eric for his heroic actions saving a woman's life by disarming a knife-wielding man. He will be greatly missed by his beloved wife, Julie and their two girls. Julie and Eric met during college at the University of Kansas and they had made a happy home with their daughters in Oklahoma City. Both their girls attend Christ the King Catholic School and are active members of their school community. Eric is also survived by his father, Dr. David Knudtson of Wichita, KS; sisters Pam Persons (Steve) of Towanda, KS; sister, Karen Seiler (Kent) of Garden Plain, KS; brother, Dr. John Knudtson (Peggy) of Wichita, KS; and numerous nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his mother, Helen Knudtson, and nephew, Daniel Persons. Services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, August 4, 2016, at Christ the King Catholic Church, 8805 Dorset Drive, Oklahoma City, OK. A reception at the church will follow. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Dr. Knudtson's name may be made to the March of Dimes or to the charity of your choosing.

In the St. Elizabeth Ann Seton bulletin, when I read that Karen Seiler's brother Dr. Eric Knudsen had passed away, I was shocked, as I remember Eric when he was in high school at Bishop Carroll. I am so very sorry, Karen and John. My heart goes out to your father and your families, especially as it seems so recently that you lost your mother. I remember you as a fine family- teachers always remember the good students-and Karen, you and John and Eric were among the best. He will be greatly missed by all in the medical community in OKC, too, I'm sure, and it is so sad that his knowledge and skill can't be used and shared to help even more patients and medical students. So sorry for the loss of a young husband, father, son, brother, uncle, cousin, colleague, friend, teacher, and doctor. May he rest in peace, and may God comfort you.

I am so saddened for all of his family. I meet Eric when we where kids. I am his brother Johs age. And our parents became friends when we all where young. Eric was a beautiful child and from all I have heard about him as an adult. It seems his kindness and gentleness followed him all his life. This is truly a tragedy. My prayers are with his wife and two daughters. But want to also say how much his siblings and Father Dave are in my heart. I feel your grieving and pain. No words can heal. But I am with you in spirt. Love all of you. May God bless you and keep you. May his grace be sufficient. May he turn his precious face towards you and give you peace.

This is one of those life events that is very hard to accept. I had the honor of working with Eric, for over 10 years in various capacities. He was a true measure of a man, and stellar human being. My prayers and wishes of condolence are sent to his loving wife and beautiful daughters, along with his entire family as well as his OUHSC family.
