Felipe Lujano

Lujano, Felipe, 65, Felipe's Mexican Restaurants owner and founder, died Monday, Jan. 20, 2003. A private service was held in Tepatitlan, Jalisco, Mexico, Felipe's final resting place. Felipe arrived in Wichita in 1960. In 1967 he founded the original Felipe's Mexican Restaurant in West Wichita with his wife Lucy by his side. In 1971 Felipe and Lucy opened a second location, Felipe's Jr., at Harry and Rock Road. Felipe recently returned to his hometown of Tepatitlan, Jalisco, Mexico, where he passed away surrounded by his loving family. Preceded in death by his sister, Maria Paz and nephew, Benjamin Padilla. Survivors: wife, Lucy; sons, Felipe Jr. and Alfonso "Poncho"; brothers, Isidro of Newton, Alfonso of Mexico, Roberto of Wichita; sisters, Juanita Cortez of Wichita, Paula Rodriguez of Mexico; and many loving nieces, nephews and Godchildren. A memorial service will be held at 5:30 p.m. Monday, at The Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception, 307 E. Central Ave., Wichita.
