George donated his valuable time as mentor to my marketing fraternity at WSU, Pi Sigma Epsilon. I really had no idea who this guy was, me being from out of state. I came in as a Junior, majoring in aviation management. One of the highlights of my young life was flying down to the PSE annual convention in Texas on George's private plane. Wow, we were living high! But the weather turned bad while we were there, so what does George do? Tells his pilot to buy commercial airline tickets for us starving college students to get back to Wichita and to our studies! Well, that got my attention and from then on I hung on his every word as he helped us all understand the vital role marketing plays in business. I eventually went on to become director of global marketing for a company in the computer industry and am now setting sail on launching my own company. Thank you George for everything. You made a difference in my life!

To The Family of George,
It's been over two months since George's passing and I still find myself thinking of him and DeAnn and his children. George was the kindest, most giving man I've ever known. In St. Louis at the MVC this year, I found myself dwelling on the good times my son Darin and I had with him and whole family at those tournaments. The times I would run into him and DeAnn at the Candle or walking out of a restaurant. It's so hard to believe that I will never see him again. He will truly be missed for a long, long time. He was definitely a "doer".
De Ann, I'm a widow also and if you ever want to go to dinner or a movie, or if you just need an ear, please don't hesitate to call me. I think of you often too when I'm thinking about George. I'm so sorry he's gone.
My Prayers and Sympathy go out to all of you,
Love and God Bless,
Janet Weidenheimer

My God hold the Fahnestock's family with tender hands. Mr. Fahnestock was a kind, gracious, and real man. The Wichita community has lost a great contributor to its environment that will be extremely difficult to replace. I'm extremely sadden by not able to visit with him again. Fahnestock Family,
You are in our prayers. George was one of the first people I ever met in Wichita and riding around on that black golf cart for four hours was a great time with him. From that day forward he always knew my name, greeted me with a smile, and treated me as a friend. I'll miss him and we will pray for all of you. Peace be with you.

Dee Anne, Eddie, Haley, Eric and Fahnestock Family,
It is impossible to share with you in this small space how I feel and what George and all of you have meant to me over the years. Not only was George my boss, but my friend, mentor and inspiration. He was a shining, textbook example of giving, love and always putting others first. I cannot begin to express what he meant to me and what your family has meant to me. Working for George was more than a job - it has been part of my life. And it's been a privilege and pleasure to do whatever I could to make his life at the office the best it could be. It WAS the best job in town and I will never forget that experience. All of us are far better people for knowing and working with George. I am committed to carry on his legacy and his love for this community & his business! It is the least I can do for him. And what a wonderful fitting tribute to the biggest Shocker fan of all time - a game day funeral and whippin' UNI - I'm sure George had on his black & gold, yelling rip 'em up, tear 'em up - let's go Shocks and the Lord wanting to know how he can be a Shocker with George. All of us in this community, his company and his charities already miss him. Please go out and love and serve others and continue the example he has given us to take care of one another! That is what he did - that is what he would desire of each of us.
My deepest sympathy and friendship to all of you - Danny, Robyn and I have you very close in our thoughts, hearts and prayers now and the days ahead. If I can do anything for any of you, all you have to do is call. I will forever be his assistant.
Love and blessings to all of you.

Dear Fahnestock Family,
Our hearts truly go out to you. As a former employee, and having children that attend Magdalen and Kapaun, we have come to know George as a truly compassionate man. Experiencing a loss to someone so dear can be devastating, (we know) but rely on your faith and those around you who love and reach out to you. May God bless you and hold you at this time.

Mr. Fahnestock was a very passionate man about what he believed in. I only met him once but, that was enough to leave a huge impact on me. George Fahnestock was an inspiration to all. I had known him for several years but got to know him best when we had opposite opinions about a local public issue. Instead of being mad, or making me "the enemy", he invited me to lunch and with a big smile, explained in a calm way his side of the issue while listening with the utmost respect and calmness to my concerns. In the end, I ended up supporting his cause and recently had attended several meetings of a new start up organization that he had planned on being involved in. Our kids are in the same class at Andover and our whole family is saddened by his passing. Our thoughts and prayers go out to the entire Fahnestock family.

George's family, many friends and business people have lost an exceptional man who's vision was the perfect definition of what Wichita could become. Many more people with George's enthusiasim for this community should try to accomplish half of what George has, to continue to make Wichita the ideal place to live, love and work.
Every opportunity I had to speak and work with George resulted in me becoming a better person. It was great to get a little nod or wink from George when I did a good job installing the HVAC system in a new home. George was a gifted man, and it showed in all of the projects in which he was involved.
I extend my deepest sympathies to all of George's family, and to all who loved him. George will always be one of my favorite mentors!

To my dearest family, some things I'd like to say...
but first of all, to let you know, that I arrived okay.
I'm writing this from heaven. Here I dwell with God above.
Here, there's no more tears of sadness; here is just eternal love.
Please do not be unhappy just because I'm out of sight.
Remember that I'm with you every morning, noon and night.
That day I had to leave you when my life on earth was through,
God picked me up and hugged me and He said, "I welcome you."
It's good to have you back again; you were missed while you were gone.
As for your dearest family, they'll be here later on.
I need you here badly; you're part of my plan.
There's so much that we have to do, to help our mortal man.
God gave me a list of things, that he wished for me to do.
And foremost on the list, was to watch and care for you.
And when you lie in bed at night, the day's chores put to flight.
God and I are closest to you....in the middle of the night.
When you think of my life on earth, and all those loving years
because you are only human, they are bound to bring you tears.
But do not be afraid to cry; it does relieve the pain.
Remember there would be no flowers, unless there was some rain.
I wish that I could tell you all that God has planned.
But if I were to tell you, you wouldn't understand.
But one thing is for certain, though my life on earth is o'er.
I'm closer to you now, than I ever was before.
There are many rocky roads ahead of you and many hills to climb;
but together we can do it by taking one day at a time.
It was always my philosophy and I'd like it for you too...
that as you give unto the world, the world will give to you.
If you can help somebody who's in sorrow and pain,
then you can say to God at night......"My day was not in vain."
And now I am contented....that my life has been worthwhile,
knowing as I passed along the way, I made somebody smile.
So if you meet somebody who is sad and feeling low,
just lend a hand to pick him up, as on your way you go.
When you're walking down the street, and you've got me on your mind;
I'm walking in your footsteps only half a step behind.
And when it's time for you to go.... from that body to be free,
remember you're not going.....you're coming here to me.
