Paul was my younger cousin by two months. Our mothers were McCauley sisters who were best friends until they died, both into their 90s. Our families lived in different towns in Western Pennsylvania, but Paul,
Bill and I grew up together and played together every chance we got. We really got dirty. I'm talking mud battles in the creek behind their house! Aunt Bonnie and Uncle Paul (the names they went by) and their kids, which by then included Veronica and baby Mike, moved to Southern California a few months after my parents and I did in 1955. Paul and Bill and I went to different high schools and went our separate ways as teenagers. It was many years after we graduated that I reconnected with Paul. He had joined the Army and traveled, while I had gotten married and moved north to the Bay Area. We saw each other on very rare occasions across the decades. It was the computer and email, of all things, that brought Paul and me back back into one another's lives. He and I emailed back and forth almost every day for several years, recalling the old days and rekindling our friendship and affection for one another. Paul knew more jokes than anyone I ever knew, and a message from him in the morning was an all day pick-me-up. My husband and I made frequent motor trips across the county in those days, and stopped twice to visit Paul and Donna in Derby, staying with them in their beautiful home and enjoying their gracious hospitality. Paul never lost his wicked sense of humor, something he exhibited even as a kid. He was so funny and so sweet, my baby cousin. His death was a blow, a sudden parting from someone I loved very much. I miss him every day, but can still hear his voice and his laughter. Rest in peace, Paul. We'll meet again.

Donna,
John and I were saddened to hear about Paul's death. We will miss him. Paul was fun and interesting, always generous with his specialized knowledge of radios. John and I will never forget how Paul came to our rescue at a moment's notice when our move became unexpectedly complicated. A generous and kind man. Our condolences also to Paul's son, mother and siblings.
