Clint Jackson Obituary

1920 - 2008 Mr. Clint Jackson, 88, longtime Kansas City North resident, passed away Friday, August 29, 2008, at his home in Leawood, Kan. He was born February 16, 1920, in Kingston, Mo., the only child of Clyde and Myrtle Cooper Jackson. They preceded him in death. Clint was a World War II veteran. He enlisted in the United States Army in November of 1941 and was honorably discharged in January of 1946 as a 1st Sgt. in the 684th Engineers. During his service time, Clint served as an instructor of Engineering at Fort Belvoir, Va. He also served in the South Pacific. After returning from the service, he began working with the Damon Pursell Construction Company in Kansas City, Mo. He retired in 2005 at the age of 85 as vice-president of the company. He was united in marriage on February 2, 1951, to Wanda Lee Bendure in Webb City, Mo. She survives of the home. Clint became a member of the First Baptist Church of North Kansas City in 1947. He served as a deacon, a trustee, taught Sunday school, sang in the choir and with the Missionaires Gospel Quartet. He was a charter member of the Gashland Lion's Club, member of the Masonic Lodge, Order of Eastern Star and served on the board of directors for the North Kansas City Hospital. He enjoyed hunting, following the Kansas City Royals and spending time with his grandchildren. In addition to his wife Wanda, he is survived by his loving daughter, Meredith Kay Lutz and husband David of Leawood, Kan., and their children, Benjamin, Emily and Samuel. "What a joy and comfort it is to know that Clint is now walking with his Lord and Savior on those streets of gold he so often sang about. He is once again enjoying fellowship with so many friends and loved ones." Funeral services will be conducted at 12:30 p.m. Tuesday, September 2, 2008, at the First Baptist Church of North Kansas City with Rev. Tiger Pennington and Dr. Donald Wideman officiating. Burial will follow at Leavenworth National Cemetery with military honors under the auspices of the United States Army. The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. until service time at the church. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to the First Baptist Church of North Kansas City or City Union Mission. Aunt Wanda, Meredith and family...
Uncle Clint was just one of the best! His laughter, his smile, his loving manner and his wonderful way will always be remembered as will be the love he had for all his family! I know he is "talking things up" with my Dad and they are watching over all of us.
Love you,
Sue & Steve Henderson

I WANT TO EXPRESS MY WARMEST THOUGHTS TO YOU AND YOUR FAMILY. I WORKED WITH CLINT AT DAMON PURSELL AND IT WAS MY PLEASURE IN KNOWING SUCH A STRONG CHRISTIAN MAN WHO LOVED HIS LORD AND FAMILY. HE WAS A PLEASURE TO WORK WITH AND NOW HE IS WITH THE LORD AND HAVINNG A BALL. MY FAVORITE THOUGHTS OF HIM ARE WHEN HE WOULD BRING SAM TO WORK WITH HIM AND THEN HOW HE WOULD JUST CHUCKLE AS HE WATCHED HIM. IN CHRIST JEANNIE

Dear Wanda, Meredith, Dave and children, we were so saddened to learn of Clint's passing, but we do take comfort in knowing he is now with our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. My father and his father were brothers and in my father's absence, Clint's parents were so good to me and my mother. I spent a good deal of time staying with Aunt Myrtle and loved her so. As a child growing up, I was always so proud that Clint was my cousin and I always thought he was absolutely the best looking man on the face of the earth! His signing voice was truly a great gift from God. Clint had a wonderful sense of humor and really enjoyed people - he and Wanda were a match made in Heaven. We will miss seeing him when in Kansas City and do wish we could be with you on Tuesday. God bless each of you, our love and prayers, Nancy & Dean Steriotis, Scottsdale, AZ.

Meredith, just a note to extend to you, your Mother, and your children my deepest sympathy. It is good to know your Father is dancing on those streets of gold, just praising and worshiping the Lord. What a blessing that is!
