Danny Madsen Obituary
February 14, 1950 - March 9, 2024
Kansas City, Missouri - Danny (affectionately known as DM III) passed away unexpectedly in his home on March 9, 2024.
He had a lifelong love of golf and was employed by Offutt Air Force Base's Willow Lakes Golf Course for over 30 years. Danny served as their Director of Golf before leaving in 1999 to help build Staley Farms Golf Club in Kansas City, where he served in a similar capacity through 2013. He retired and continued teaching the game he loved to students of all ages.
Preceded in death by his parents Arthur and Virginia Madsen; sister, Susan Radil, and nephews Robbie Radil and Todd Radil.
Danny is survived by his daughter, Jennifer; sons Dan Jr. (Colleen) and Jack (partner Alicia Waugh); sister Lynne Madsen; grandson Kobe Waugh; great-grandchildren Aspen and Elias; niece Dana Radil; his beloved dog, Jake; also, many extended family members, loving friends and students.
Reception of Friends: Saturday, March 23, 10:00 a.m. followed by a Celebration of Life at 11:00 a.m., both, at the Bellevue Memorial Funeral Chapel.

I am so sorry to hear this. I only had one golf lesson, but very much enjoyed it. He had lots of great stories. My condolences to his family.

I worked for DM3 (he loved to call all us young bucks in the Pro Shop "laddie") at Staley Farms. Man, those were fun times. He was great to work for. Taught us all how important it was to keep the shop tidy & clean and how to get the creases in the shirts just right. You could tell just how much being around all the military folks had influenced him. He was such a cool dude and a proper gentleman. He will be missed!

Remembering a round of golf in KC (day of crash of the Challenger) with Danny, Ron Foster and Kirk Koehler. Foster was Dan's partner v. Kirk and I and, although a 20 plus handicap, was close to par after 4 holes, when Kirk pointed out his golf ball was not round, but misshapen. Foster replaced the ball and proceeded to double or triple bogey nearly all the remaining holes. Notwithstanding his losses, Danny congratulated Foster on his game! He was a classy gentleman.
