Donald Richards Obituary

Donald E. Richards Donald Eugene Richards, "Pop", 83, a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, passed away at home surrounded by his family on January 15, 2019. Services will be held Monday, January 21st at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Independence, MO. The family will greet family and friends from 10:30-11:45 a.m., with Mass beginning at noon. Don was especially devoted to supporting the children at St. Jude's Hospital. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent there. Don worked for the Gas Service Co. for 40 years and retired in 1990. He and Dorothy travelled all around the country and returned many times to his favorite place, Estes Park, CO. Don never knew a stranger, always carried a smile, and brought joy to all around him. He leaves his wife of 63 years, Dorothy Richards; a daughter and son-in-law, Brian and Pam Wyman; two sons and daughters-in-law, Donnie and Renee Richards, and Brian and Dee Richards; seven grandchildren: Matt, Kyle, Rusty, Jessica, Cory, Christopher and Lindsay; and three great-grandchildren: Abby, Brody, and Rylie. Arrangements: Royer Funeral Home, Oak Grove, MO 816-690-4441.

Aunt Dottie, Pam, Donnie, and Brian, I am so sorry for your loss. Uncle Don was a kind and gentle soul. I will remember him always for that. It was wonderful to have had him in my life.
