I first met Mrs. Hawk in the early 70s, when she and her husband, Jim, were looking after his stepfather, Mr. Mesmer. They hired my mom to be his live-in caregiver when I was 6 or 7, and even after he passed away, she remained in contact with my mom, and was a good friend to her for many years. She even reached out to me after my mom passed away in 2011. She was a good and kind person.

Dora Mae was a delightful lady! I enjoyed her in the Raytown Garden Club. Her miniature floral arrangements were amazing and she shared her love of nature and God with all of us. She was a dear person and will be missed by many.
