Dearest Boyd Family,
Although we only met once (at Emmanuel's funeral) I feel a very close bond with your family. I was dating Emmanuel while he was in Iraq, my name is Michele Brown. He spoke lovingly of your entire family often throughout that time. I didn't get the chance I would have liked to talk and share more with you about how big of a blessing he was in my life, as i know he was in yours. Now that he is gone in body it is his spirit that stays with me, with us...the people who really knew and loved him.
I have some video's and pictures that he sent me while he was in Iraq that I would love to share with you and his Daughter;Ella, which he talked about with such love and adoration.Please excuse my tardiness in getting in touch with you, this past year has been full of trials for me in his passing.My hope is that through sharing stories, pictures and our love of Emmanuel it will help all of our hearts begin to heal.
I pray this message finds you all well and strong in the LORD. May GOD bless each and everyone of you for all your days.
And to Emmanuel, you will forever be in my heart. I love you and miss you everyday. Until we meet again.

Manny was a very good friend of mine. I met him through my high school friend, our mutual friend, Desmond Fahie. I always admired Manny for his many talents and his drive. I find little memories of him almost on a daily basis and my heart is heavy with sorrow for your, all of our, loss. Your son shined a light in my life that I will never fully be able to put into words. He was a cherished and dear friend to me and many others here in san antonio. He is deeply missed.

Dear Boyd family,
I had the honor of knowing Manny for a short time when he played with Plan B in Mississippi. He was a very special young man with an incredible gift for music. The world will be a little less bright now. But as I read the comments from all over the country, it strikes me how many people he touched in his short life. What a testimony!

I have good memories of Manny, last year I was away from home on a TDY with him and my birthday fell on one of the days we were gone. He made a good effort to take me out and celebrate my birthday when I was away from my love ones. He will be missed.

My Dearest Boyds: How precious to read of the deep affection held for Emmanuel.....didn't even know he was "Manny!" Made in God's image, and with the characteristic attenion and finesse of Jesus, I believe your son loved others and served so well, and so brought glory to God. I had just met Manny a little over a month ago. We spent a lot of the last few weeks together and in that time I discovered that he was an extremely genuine person with a heart of gold. My condolences to his family and to his daughter. He spoke so much of her.

Dear Boyd family,
I am deeply hurt to hear that Manny is gone. I was just talking to him a few weeks ago when he came to help with the Kids First fest in MS. He drove all that way because he cared and wanted to help. I appreciated his willingness to do a tv interview with me.
I admired him as a fellow musician and songwriter who I felt had the talent to go to the top if he wanted. When he and I last talked, he spoke about how much he wanted to spend more time with his daughter. I hope she will grow to know that.

Manny was like my big brother (even thought I was the older of us) I had known Manny for a couple of years and whenever he was around there was never a dull moment. He was super intelligent and always had so much to teach, give and say. Being that he was an honest and whole-hearted person made it easy for us to get thru hard times and good. I knew Emmanuel for only a short period of time....but my life was changed for the better the moment he walked in my office and said "MSgt Hill? Hello, I'm SrA Boyd".
I had the honor and pleasure of supervising Manny when he first arrived at Brooks City-Base. There was never a dull moment when Manny was around! He constantly challenged me and kept me smiling.
I retired from the AF in 2007 and requested Manny sing the National Anthem at my retirement ceremony. He accepted my request, gave me a wink and told me he would do something "special" for me....and that he did!
Manny touched so many lives in such a special way....We are so blessed to have known him! Thank God and thank you for blessing us with such a special man!

As I sit here in disbelief that such a great individual is gone, I look back in the sort time that I knew him and smile. I met Manny in Iraq this year, although we had very spirited conversations, I very muched looked forward to our conversations and also our card games(many card games). He used to come to my desk often to speak about the anticipated birth of his daughter.. He was so excited to become a father..
