Brenda Boyd Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Twiford Funeral Home - Outer Banks - Manteo on Mar. 3, 2026.
Brend Carol Boyd was lifted into heaven in the arms of our Lord on Sunday, February 22, 2026, at the age of 79, after a month-long battle with Cancer and in the loving care of her niece Elizabeth Rossi, nephew Jeremy Forrest, and niece Victoria Pratt. A small but feisty older lady, she had many wonderful years and a life full of service and gratitude.

Born in July of 1946 in St. Joseph, MO to William and Vera Foley, she graduated from Rogers High School in Rhode Island and obtained an Associate's and Nursing degree to become a Licensed Practical Nurse.

She was a member of the Gunfighters Club in Coatesville, PA, a second place winner in the Senior American Idol, an active member of the West End Baptist Chapel in Hagerstown, MD where she sang in the choir and went on mission trips across the country building homes for the underprivileged as well as a member of the Red Head Society.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother, Stephen Foley and her sister, Stephane Chilcote, and her husband.

She is survived by her son James A Riggins and his domestic partner of over 20 years Les Torres-Perez and her many grandchildren, Kylie Riggins, Corey and Chelsea Riggins, Marrisa Plumer (Brad) Joseph Mohr, Casey Rossi (Jason) Thomas Mohr, (Sarah) Stephanie Frazier, (Derek) Sara Mohr, Dylan Rossi, and Cole Laclair and by eight great-grandchildren.

She lived for many years with her niece Elizabeth Rossi and Jeremy Forrest and was more like a mother to them than an aunt.

Brenda requested that in lieu of flowers and cards, please make donations to the American Cancer Society, your local ASPCA or your local Hospice.

A private service with the family will be held at a later date.
