Joan Cross Obituary

Joan Elizabeth Cross, 67, Gladstone, MO, passed away Wednesday, October 29, 2003, at North Kansas City Hospital. A private graveside inurnment will be take place at a later date at White Chapel Memorial Gardens. The family suggests memorial contributions in lieu of flowers to Myasthenia Gravis Association of Greater Kansas City, 2300 E. Meyer Blvd., KCMO 64132. Mrs. Cross was born December 7, 1935, in Boston, MA, to John Willis and Lucille (Gibbs) Gillingham. After growing up in the Boston area, Joan moved to the Kansas City area in 1964. She was a unit secretary at North Kansas City Hospital, retiring in 1996. She was a loving mother to son, John A. Cross and his wife, Donnell, Kansas City, MO; daughter, Deborah G. Garner, Kansas City, MO; son, Stephen W. Cross and his wife, Kim, Liberty, MO; daughter, Elizabeth Jayne "Betsy" Harper, Gladstone, MO; and daughter, Stephanie J. Eckert and her husband, Frank, Eudora, KS. She was a loving grandmother of nine grandchildren, Michelle, Jason, Casey, Daylynne, Kaylee, Taylor, Joshua, Matthew, and Jacob; and five great-grandchildren, Mikayla, James, Jordon, Jayse and Landen. She was loved dearly by her family and will be greatly missed. We love you, Mema. (Arrangements: D.W. Newcomer's Sons White Chapel, 816-452-8604)
