Joe Caraway Obituary

Joe N. Caraway passed away at home on March 12, 2026.

Joe grew up in North Kansas City and graduated from North Kansas City High School, remaining closely connected to classmates throughout his life. He attended Northwest Missouri State University, where he was a member of Phi Sigma Epsilon and met his future wife, Sandra (Sandy) Stilabower. They married in 1968.

Joe began his career with Skelly Oil, later opening his own business, H & S Service. He and Sandy raised their son, Andy, who was the center of his life.

He enjoyed golf, sporting events, and time with friends and family, especially golf trips with the "Fun Bunch" and weekends at the Lake of the Ozarks.

After retiring, Joe worked as a bus driver and volunteered with Meals on Wheels. In his later years, he enjoyed a meaningful relationship with Debbie Castaneda.

Joe will be remembered as a friendly, good-natured man who connected easily with others.

He is survived by his son, Andy Caraway, & his partner, Gary Lezak; his sister-in-law, Karen Thompson, and her husband, Allan; along with extended family and many friends.

Arrangements are pending.
