Scottsdale, Arizona - Laurie Lee Scheer passed away peacefully with her loving husband, Larry by her side on December 7, 2022 in Scottsdale, AZ. She was born on December 11, 1941 to Paul and Marie Duke. She is the second eldest of 7 children. Laurie grew upon a dairy farm near Mount Vernon, KS and graduated from Garden Plain High School. She graduated from the Kansas School of Cosmetology and worked as a hair dresser until the birth of their first son, Tim. Larry & Laurie met after high school and dated a couple of years before they were married on October 13, 1962 at St. Rose of Lima in Mount Vernon, KS. They have 3 beautiful children ; Timothy Joseph (October 10, 1963); Mindy Lee (October 10, 1964) and Scott Edward (September 16, 1968). They moved to Omaha , NE in 1966 where Larry started a Truck Parts Distribution Business with his eldest brother Richard Scheer. The family then moved to Billings, MT in 1971 for 16 years where they raised their 3 children. In 1987, Larry and Laurie moved to Overland Park, KS where Larry's corporate office, Inland Truck Parts, was relocated. Laurie was a strong advocate of her Catholic faith and was very active in the church and school system where her children attended. She
enjoyed embroidering, reading and ceramics. She became an avid golfer and enjoyed playing golf with her friends and most of all, Larry. Laurie would always light up a room when she walked in with her radiant and infectious smile. She loved everyone she met and the feeling was mutual. One of Laurie's greatest joys in life were her 6 grand-children; Alena Cenis (Glenwood Springs, CO); William Cenis (Kirkland, WA); William Scheer (Overland Park, KS); Jacob Scheer (Gilbert, AZ); Alyssa Scheer (Gilbert,AZ) and Brady Scheer (Overland Park, KS). And one great grand-child, Beau Langdon (Gilbert, AZ). Laurie is survived by her husband, Larry; Son – Tim (Kristen) Scheer (Overland Park,KS); Daughter -Mindy (Dan) Zintz (Fennimore, WI); Son -Scott (Lisa) Scheer (Gilbert, AZ). Her 2 sisters- Mary Kay O'Connell (Tulsa,OK) and Patricia Duke (Lawrence, KS) and a brother Dan (Janice) Duke (Coeur d' Alene,ID). She was preceded by death by her parents Paul and Marie Duke, and her in laws Nicholas and Claire Scheer; her 2 brothers Paul Duke and Peter Duke and a sister Doris Jean Duke. A Funeral Mass will be held at St. Michael the Archangel in Leawood, KS on Friday, January 6, 2023 at 10:30am with a reception following. Donations in Laurie's memory may be made to
