I will always remember Lyllis as a very positive woman who would do anything for anyone! Her kind heart and her love for life were so evident. I know she lived with much pain after her accident but you would never know it being around her. She was a wonderful friend and missed greatly

Lyllis
Had an infectious laugh .... I remember her encouraging me to push her faster down a hill in her wheelchair. Of course we got going pretty fast upon getting to the bottom she said that was fun and we both laughed at our combined playfulness. She was as many have said a wonderful soul and worked very hard for the Grail where we became friends .Journey well dear one.

I worked with Lyllis for over 25 years. She was a very strong leader and an inspiration to me. She encouraged and supported me to think outside the box and to branch out in my career. Her ability to overcome the loss of her legs in the tragic accident was a mark of her courage and indominatable spirit. She honored family life and was understanding when family issues arose for those who worked for her. She cared for her father in his last years with love and dedication and was fiercely independent. She was a strong advocate for children. She started the WIC program at Children's Mercy helping many families feed their children. Lyllis was an advocate for fair treatment for all and devout in her spiritual journey. I am so sorry I was not aware of her passing as I was tending to family health issues at the time. I will miss her.

I knew Lyllis for many years...we had the Mount in common as I graduated from there in 1968. I met her while working as a Dietitian in KC and we shared many fun bridge games. Truly sorry I didn't hear about her service, I would have loved to have been there. My sincere condolences to her relatives. She was outstanding in all ways....a wonderful person I'm proud to have known. Love and prayers, Norma Herring

I met Lyllis in the first year that I arrived in KC when I joined the Children's Mercy Staff. We had a long, rich friendship with many good meals, bridge and tennis in the early mornings! I had the privilege of living below her in the duplex and then moved upstairs following Lyllis' accident. She amazed me continually with her drive, endurance and ability to forgive. I am so sorry we were out of town when I learned about her service. My sympathy to the family. She was a grand lady with a big heart.

I was working at Children's Mercy when Lyllis started and became my boss. Our working relationship developed into a lifelong friendship. She worked tirelessly for the benefit of others and adapted to the loss of her legs with grace. She was an inspiration to many of us.

To the Ling Family: My heartfelt sympathies go out to the family and friends during this difficult time. I hope that the promise in 1 Thessalonians 4:14 can bring comfort. Knowing that there's a hope for the ones we have lost in death can be so reassuring.

Lyllis was my good friend and mentor. I worked with her in the nutrition department at Children's Mercy Hospital in KC for two summers during college. My second job out of college was back at Mercy working with Lyllis and the WIC nutrition program.
Over time, we became good friends. She was a wonderful woman, always positive. We shared many laughs and cried together too. She helped me through many moments in my life.
I will miss her.

The Ling family lived just down a couple houses from us when I grew up in Liberal, Kansas. I remember Lyllis as being always friendly with a kind and gentle spirit. May she rest in peace.
