What a man! My daughter was the lucky recipient of Mike's ER care 19 years ago. I'm so sorry for this immeasurable loss to the Feder family, but I'm also sad for an immense loss to all of us who were fortunate enough to have lived in his "community" which extended globally. Joyce, my deepest condolences. How tremendous that he had such a lovely and supportive partner and soul-mate in you. His life makes me want to live mine better, as he continues to inspire.

"A Man For Others"
This is the title of an article written by Mark Vittert in the St.Louis Business Journal in the November 30, 2012 edition. As a SLUH graduate, I was interested in reading the article. What a wonderful life story that ended too soon.
Even though I never had the pleasure or the honor of meeting Dr.Feder, I graduated from SLUH in'64, I felt compelled.to express my sympathy to the family. What an outstanding example 'A Man For Others'. What an inspiraion his life is for all that must have known Dr. Feder.
Deepest Sympathy for the family.

A fellow Jr. Billiken

I'm so sorry for your loss. I knew Mike from SLUH, and I know he was a great guy. I know words cannot take away your pain, but I know Mike's life was devoted to the service of others, and he is now in paradise with the Father. May God continue to bless all of Mike's family and close friends, and blanket you in the compassion and comfort only He can give.

Condolences to everyone who was lucky enough to spend time in Dr. Feder's light. I worked with him for years at St. Joseph and St. Marys and I can truly say that he defined the words "compassion" and "gentleman". I never heard him speak a cross word to anyone, and he treated one and all like they were royalty. He will be sorely missed.

When I think of Michael Feder I do not see him as an adult, a doctor, a husband or father, rather I remember him as a student in my French class at St. Louis University High School. Mike was a perfect student...if there is such a thing. He was intelligent, talented, caring, friendly and very polite. He always had a positive, can-do attitude for his studies and his life. Mike had an infectious smile. I was fortunate to know his parents Carolyn and Tom and his younger brother Dan....what a great family! He was beloved by his classmates, friends and teachers. Michael was indeed a true "Man for Others." He will be missed. Rest in peace, "cher ami".

My sincerest condolences to his family and many friends.

Dear Joyce, Jonathan, Emily & Annelise, Our prayers are with you and have been since your dad was first diagnosed. I can't imagine the void you all must feeling. Your dad, honestly was the most amazing man I have ever known. His soul is permeated with love, compassion, "strength, humility, ... I know all of us Collars" ALWAYS felt like family whenever we were around your dad, not to mention the many times he so graciously and generously gave of his time to help us out when we called with a medical question or needed some guidance and help through some of our own medical situations. Whenever I spent anytime with your dad, he was always fully present. He made me feel like he had all of the time in the world for me. You may not remember, in fact Jonathan, you were the only one born I believe-our trip to Colo. was without a doubt the most fun and relaxing vacation we have ever had. My regret is being so caught up with my own family, that I didn't take more oppurtunities to go to family things, like Chief games etc. and spend more time with all of you. Truly anytime spent with your dad felt like you were in the presence of Christ.
God must have needed your dad up in heaven for a glorious undertaking. I can only imagine your dad, grandma and grandpa (who he just met), Uncle Francis etc. all gathered around praying for all of you and rejoicing knowing all 4 of you will join all of them some day in paradise. Your dad's light has been passed on to you. Good role modeling is the #1 most important thing a parent can do to ensure their children's happiness. And no one did that better than your dad. God love you all!! We love you and all of your family like they are our family. Cathleen

Joyce, Emily, Jonathan and Annelise - My thoughts and prayers are with your family. I went to high school with Mike, and there was not a more well liked or well respected guy in our class. That was true when we were teenagers, and it has remained true over the years. I know his spirit will live on in each of you.

I was so very sad to learn of Dr. Feder's passing. I will never forget the compassion he showed my son and me in the ER at St. Joseph's when we had to admit my elderly mother, nor will I forget his wonderful children whom I was privileged to teach. What an excellent example as to the proper way to approach our lives Dr. Feder was! We were blessed to have him on this earth with us, and my prayers are with you. I am so very sorry.

Mike will remain in my prayers.
