Richard J. Sparks

Richard J. Sparks, 67, of Kansas City, Kansas passed away February 26, 2008 at Shawnee Mission Med. Ctr. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday, March 1, 2008 at Maple Hill Funeral Home. Burial will be in Maple Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be from 9-11 AM Saturday at the funeral home. Richard was born in Independence, MO and had lived in this area most of his life. He retired in 1996. He was a Navy veteran and a member of the Masonic Lodge and Scottish Rite Bodies. Preceding Richard in death were his father, Jack E. Sparks and a sister, Judy Wymer. Survivors include his wife of 49 years, Melinda L. Sparks, of the home; a son and daughter in law, Richard J. and Brenda Sparks, Shawnee, KS; 2 daughters and sons in law, Kim and Rich Felix, K.C, KS; Elizabeth and Chuck Wolfe, Lamar, MO; his mother, Bessie Sparks, K.C., KS; 2 sisters, Carol Fletcher and her husband Ferman, K.C., KS; Linda Hill, Blue Springs, MO; his father in law, Roger Griffin, Shawnee, KS; a brother in law, Larry Wymer; 10 grandchildren, Mendie (Chad) Melton; Stephany Conklin (Paul Mysliwski); Chris Conklin; Andrew, Ashton and Kayla Sparks; Chuck (Beth) Wolfe; Chad (Amber) Wolfe; Ricky (Katie) Felix; Adam Felix; 6 great grandchildren, Caleb and Colton Melton, Kayleigh and Hunter Wolfe and Cooper and Riley Felix.
