Dear Tim, Joleen and Family,
I am so sorry for your loss. Laura and I are both very saddened to know that the Johnsons are in pain and grief. We were shocked and caught by surprise, and wish we could have been more supportive. You have survived a great battle. We know that you guys are strong, but remember we are praying daily for healing to come soon.
Love, Tony and Laura Perkins

Dear Jolene and family,
In the early days of May here in El Salvador, Central America I heard from Peg Eckert of Tom's illness and death. I was stunned and so sorry that I could not be with all of you at his funeral. I have so many memories of Tom and all of you starting from the time we moved to Stratford Rd in 1976 when Tom, Joleen, Gretchen and Hope came to our door to say hello. The last time I saw Tom was in Rainy Day Books where we had a good visit. Tom played such an improtant role in the early growing up years of my children as he did for so many other families. I remember walking my kids down to your house so Tom could pull out a tooth and save me a nervous breakdown. The hill by his offices on State Line provided a great place to go sledding in the winter! It is such a loss but I know you have been comforted by so many people who owed so much to Tom.
My very best to all of you,
Pauline Dolan

Dear Joleen and family
I was away from Kansas City at the time of Tom's death/funeral, but want you and his children to know that I join them in prayer for Tom. I think of him and all of you during the wonderful years of Tim being a student at Rockhurst High School and how you generously worked with me to keep the school within the financial reach of all who wanted to come. May the Lord's place for Tom be way more than he ever hoped for and may each of you know the closeness of the Lord in this hard time of closing a chapter of family history.

I started going to Dr. Johnson at age 3 and he was my dentist until I graduated from college. I always enjoyed going to him - he always greeted you with a smile and made you feel important. He did so well with my braces - my teeth turned out beautiful and every dentist I've seen since comments on them. Shortly before he retired I was working at a job on Ward Parkway and I stopped by his office on my lunch break to wish him well and thank him. At that time I had a small chip on one of my front teeth. He mixed up the enamel and offered to fix it for me on the spot and didn't charge me. I knew it was out of the goodness of his heart and it showed that we were more to him than just patients. My tooth still looks great. I am saddened by his passing and my thoughts and prayers are with the family, even though I've never met any of you. He always spoke fondly of his wife and children. He will be missed.

My children both went to Dr. Johnson starting at age 3 until they graduated from college- that was from 1975 until 1999. So you can see how many trips I made to the office on State Line road for regular checkups and for braces. He was a very kind wonderful person and I am deeply saddened. I offer my deepest sympathy to you and your family.

Dr. Johnson was my dentist/orthodontist for many years until he retired, and he definitely left a lasting impression on me. I even wrote a "hero paper" about him in elementary school, because he was such a kind and caring man, who actually made having braces fun.
I am truly sorry for your family's loss and will keep all of you in my thoughts and prayers.

We are deeply saddened to find out that Dr. J has passed. I only have the fondest memories of growing-up in your home and being treated as on of your children. A husband, father and man that I know that I will always try to be like. I often ask myself, "What would Dr. Johnson do". I will always strive for his approval in my life.

Dr. Johnson was my sons childhood dentist. I have many fond memories of his ease with my children. He always wore a bow tie, that certainly was his signature style!

I am shocked and saddened by this news of Tom's passing. We knew each other professionally for many years and I always admired Tom greatly as being an excellent pedodontist and a caring and loving person to his patients. I gained a great deal personally knowing Tom. When I was having a medical crisis many years ago Tom said to me,"I will pray for you." It touched me deeply. To Tom's entire family please accept my deepest sorrow and sympathy.

I was fortunate to meet Tom and Jolene through Jolene's cousin, Fran. I was privileged to be invited as a guest in their home. On one particular stay, Tom was kind enough to share with us stories of his practice. His discussion and passion stayed with me and literally changed my dental habits. Every time, I get a good check up at the dentist, I silently thank Tom. He fought his battle with a sense of dignity and spirit of life. May we all live life a little more like Tom.

You truly have my deepest sympathy. Tom was a wonderful man and I still consider you one of my dearaest friends. We go back a long way and I just wanted you to know how sad I was to hear the news. Bob Atchity emailed me last nite.
