Barb Compton

Died: Jan. 19, 2012

WAUKESHA, Wis. – Barb Compton of Waukesha, WI, passed away peacefully on Thursday, Jan. 19, 2012, at the age of 83.

Barb was born in Melrose Park, the daughter of Dr. Charles E. and Lenore L. (nee Lovejoy) Wiley. Barb worked at Butler Middle School in Waukesha for more than 25 years as a very dedicated attendance secretary and will always be remembered for her loving, joyful spirit and kind personality. Barb loved the faculty and students, and they loved her as well. After retirement, Barb worked for many years at the Jewelry Nook as well as K.C.'s Antiques, employed until she was over 77 years old. Barb was a devoted member of St. Luke's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Waukesha. She had a passion for antiques, jewelry, all animals and for Frank Sinatra's music. Barb's real passion, however, was her love for her family, as she spent countless hours with her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren as well as her nieces and nephews.

Barb will be dearly missed by her children, Cathie (David) Rees of Waukesha, Steve W. Compton of Pewaukee, Wis., and Judy Compton-Holbrook (Russ Holbrook) of Geneva; her grandchildren, Rich (Trish) Henry of Waterford, Wis., Troy Vincenti of Ixonia, Wis., Trevor Rees of Waukesha, Alyssa Holbrook of Geneva, Tyler Rees of Waukesha, and Lindsay Holbrook of Geneva; her great-grandchildren, Michelle Henry of Waterford, Tasha Ehlert of Milwaukee and Jessica Ehlert of Waterford; her beloved sister, Jane (Dick) Irving of Brookfield, Wis.; her loving cousins, Judy (Jim) Brown of Geneva and Peggy Lou Schultz of Downers Grove; and many other family and friends. Barb was preceded in death by her parents.

A visitation and funeral for Barb was held today, Saturday, Jan. 28, at the Cesarz, Charapata & Zinnecker Funeral Home, 237 N. Moreland Blvd., Waukesha, Wis. The visitation was from 10 to 11:30 a.m. with the service immediately following. The Rev. Peter Schmidt officiated the service. Entombment followed the service at Prairie Home Cemetery in Waukesha.
