Hi. I hope family and friends of Larry are doing well. I truly enjoyed Larry, as a friend. He came in to Applebee's often, and I came to think of him as family. He is still very missed.

It is wonderfull to see how loved Larry was in Kearney community. He talked often of the Students of the school. He was proud of each and every one of the students. He loved ushering at church and being involved with the church and school. Larry would call us often as he waited for the students to compete in what ever event and tell us how they were doing. We did not know the students personally but felt like we did after Larry was done bragging on them. Larry will be very missed by many. Thank you Kearney community for being so supportive of him.
Lots of love Scott and Arlene Neidhardt

We were members of First Lutheran in Kearney in the 80's and 90's and knew Larry from there. He always had a big smile and a kind word for all. He drove the bus for our oldest daugher who was on the Kearney High debate team her freshman year. He was not just a driver but also a great supporter of the team. It's heartbreaking to hear about this and our very deepest sympathy and prayers go out to the family--

When we attended First Lutheran Church, Larry was always there to usher us in, turn the lights back on during the service after our toddler shut them off, greet us with a friendly smile, and all around made us feel very comfortable. He was a wonderful individual who will be greatly missed by all who knew him! May you all feel God's strength and comfort during this most difficult time.

There are few words that can describe a man of his depth and grace. I was raised in Albion and always had the utmost respect and admiration for him. He was a man whose reputation and legacy go far beyond himself and he will continue to be an example for the lives he has touched and changed on his journey through life. Thank you LARRY for being who you where.

I have fond memories of Larry's friendly smile growing up north of Albion--that's where he learned to drive! The Neidhardt family was well-liked in the neighborhood so it's not surprising to hear of all the good things he had done and the lives he touched in his time in Kearney. We are so sorry to hear of your loss. Keeping you in our thoughts and prayers at this difficult time. God bless!

We were so sorry to hear of, and to read the news of, Larry's death. Our friendship goes back many years when he was an Agent for Bankers Life Nebraska, now Ameritas Life Insurance Company, and I was his office staff support. Even though we lost contact with Larry when he moved on with his life in Kearney, we still considered him as our special friend. He was a very kind, understanding, and compassionate person who will be missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him. Our sincere sympathies to his family and to his "family of friends."

Larry breakfast at Perkins will not be the same without you anymore. If Larry didn't have to get up for the fields or a bus run I and others down at Perkins would miss him and somebody would always be asking if anybody had heard from Larry for a while. He truly was a great friend and I will miss him like everybody else dearly. To his kids if there ever is anything that I can do for you look me up. I don't have much money but have a big heart and will try to do whatever I can for you. If today it is a shoulder to cry mine is available and I'll shed a tear with you while trying to console you. It sounds like your dad was proud of all of you take care. My wife Connie and I will say a prayer for all of you

Larry was an incredible influence on me at my time at Kearney High School. I was on the speech & debate team and spend a lot of early morning and late night trips talking to him. He was so sweet and supportive, no matter how competition was going.
Larry cared about us and it was obvious to everyone around. My parents, having met him several times dropping me off and picking me up, always worried less when I told them Larry was driving. They knew he cared about us and would keep us safe.
My thoughts and prayers go out to Larry's children and family. He was an incredible person and I am so grateful to have known him.

There is no greater evidence of the quality of Larry's character than the love and respect that students at Kearney High School had for him. Larry drove a bus for KHS for many of their extracurricular activities, and the students had no greater supporter than Larry, who would attend the activities (be it cross country, forensics, choir, band, or whatever), cheering them on when they won and consoling them when they lost. Such was his influence that the students dedicated their yearbook to him several years ago - a fitting tribute to a life well lived. God bless you, Larry, as you blessed the lives of others.

I had the pleasure of knowing Larry not only because he was my bus driver during my high school years but also got to work with him when I worked for Kearney Public Schools. He was always there to help out even if you just needed him to listen or you needed a hug. He had even spent Christmas with my family. He cared so much about everyone at Church, school and work. We were truly blessed to have him as a part of our extended family and I am just sorry that our little one will never get to know him. At least we know he is up in Heaven with the other Angels we have lost.

Larry was a fantastic man who was dedicated to serving others...Much like the teachings of Christ, it is always necessary to put others in front of ourselves to truly be a strong witness and good person. Larry exhibited these qualities. I have many fond memories from High school bus trips, and always was looking for Larry when approaching the bus! May God's peace be with the family and those closest to him!

Larry's children should feel so privileged to know how loved their father was, not only by them but this community. I didn't have the honor of ever knowing him but I feel like I do now after reading all of the wonderful entries submitted. What an awful loss this town has had, losing one of its truly "special" citizens. May God Bless Larry and his family.

Larry Jr, Tony, Laura, Grandma and all the extended family in the Kearney Community - Thoughts and prayers are with you all. It is just so great to hear the kind words and the number of lives that Larry touched. I have not seen Larry for years, but remember when he first started driving the bus in Kearney. I was going to school at UNK and had just settled at Perkins with some friends for late night/early morning breakfast. Low and behold, there was my uncle sitting across the way, he had just returned from a trip with students. He smiled because he probably knew that we had been up to. He then joined us for breakfast and talked a lot about the kids and activities at KHS. He truly loved driving bus and the many people he met. I have to believe that God had a beautiful white bus with wings waiting for him in heaven!

Larry's unwavering dedication and service to our church family continued seamlessly through different pastors, worship styles, sanctuaries . . . He served selflessly 'behind the scenes' ensuring confirmation students had their sermon notes, babysitters were in the nursery, acolytes were ready, ushers and communion stewards were counted and posted - so perfectly the rest of us might never know he was there - except we did - every Sunday - every service - and we miss him already. I once heard someone refer to him as God's glue - helping to hold us together. Thank you, God for the gift of Larry - and peace to his family.

Larry was a man that could teach profound life lessons in a few short sentences just prior to departure from KHS for another student activity. Students and coaches that had the privilege of riding on his bus were better competitors and people because of him. He will be greatly missed and our thoughts and prayers go out to his family.

A selfish thought is: Why did heaven need Larry more than we needed him? Lots of tears are being shed for Larry. So many people will miss him. With God's help we at First Lutheran will go on without his presence each and every Sunday morning. It's hard to imagine anyone filling his big shoes.

When Larry drove the theatre students the past 13 years, he always told them when we left, "we are guests today of (school attending)." He lived his life with this motto: he possessed the poise of a guest, he extended kindness and support for all, and his integrity was a benefit to all students and sponsors.
The show will go on at KPS, but one of our best stagehands will be sorely missed by the Kearney High Thespians past and present.

I had the honor of knowing Larry as a friend, church member and bus driver. He was very much like a father. He joined our family for many Sunday lunches together and holidays and always felt like family. During my high school years Larry drove the bus and came to many events even when he wasn't on bus duty to watch. He was a stand up gentlemen and will be dearly missed. He was one of the best men I have ever known. May you fly on eagles wings Larry!!!

We had the privilage of meeting Larry through his son Tony. We enjoyed his visits to Omaha and loved sharing stories of farming and life in general. In our eyes we see a man who was so sucessful in life because of his ability to extend love and friendship to so many people. Little by little, task by task, gesture by gesture, word by word. Our deepest sympathy we extend to Tony and all the Neidhart family and friends.

Larry will always hold a special place in my heart! For nearly 15 years he's been not only a bus driver, a coordinator, a mentor, a cheerleader, or a youth group sponsor, but a real friend! The kind of guy who no matter how chaotic a Sunday morning was, would make sure to come greet me personally and offer a funny face to our newborn son! As an athlete and member of First Lutheran, Larry was a citizen who easily became family! I know that Larry was one of the first to offer congrats after a great jump, a graduation, a marriage, a coaching feat, and lastly a birth... A man who has been there through many memories! He will be greatly missed! When the pearly gates open someday, Larry- Save a spot on that bus for me!

Larry was always a support to me and my teamates. We always wanted Larry to be our bus driver. Even to this day as I teach and coach in North Platte, he would always make a point to come find me at all of the sporting events just to see how I was doing. I graduated in 2001 from Kearney High and he still has a special place in my heart.

Larry was proof of how life should be lived. He was a man that will be remembered by everyone he came into contact with - whether it was through his church, as a bus driver, a farm worker, a friend, a father, or just an acquaintance. Each and every time I talked to Larry he would bring a smile to my face. He had nothing but positive things to say and always made the best out of every situation. I can remember the days of playing highschool sports and waiting for the bus to pull up the hill of Kearney High - we would anxiously await to see who the driver was - and when we saw Larry there would be cheers and smiles. Everyone knew we were in good hands and also had one of our biggest supporters along for the trip. I also remember for all the sports banquets we made sure we never forgot to invite Larry.
I won't forget the talk I had with Larry at my highschool graduation. He gave me a huge "Larry hug" as he smiled and said Congratulations. Then Larry told me something I will never forget,"Go chase your dreams and never look back. Live life to the fullest and never wear anything but a smile." Those words have stuck with me since that day and always will.
Larry will be remembered by everyone and whenever I think of Larry I will always smile because I know that is exactly what Larry would want.
My prayers go out to his family and friends and all of those who knew Larry. Heaven has gained another amazing angel.

Larry and I were good friends at Albion High School - played in the band, worked on the school yearbook, were both student managers of various athletic teams - he gave me rides home in violation "of the drive to high school only rules." We shared many good times in high school. I am so pleased to read of all the lives he touched - that is not surprising. Larry was one great guy and more importantly, a great friend. I know he will be missed by family and friends. My prayers are with his family.

My sympathies go out to Larry's family. I live on the Markus farm where Larry came to work about 15 years ago. I remember how excited he was when he got his bus driving job and the stories he shared of his times on the bus with the kids. He spoke with love of his children. He was very proud of you guys.Larry and I butted heads a few times but when the sheep got out or I needed a hand, a ride, the driveway plowed or whatever, he was there with a willing hand. He loved to have chats in the yard about just about anything. He offered his sympathies and gave appreciated words of encouragement when my dad died. The farm wont be the same with you Larry. With Sympathy,

I have stories I could share too...Larry the Usher, Larry the Bus Drive he was both to me and my family. His presence will be missed everywhere. Larry was a rare and wonderful individual. He wasn't a big important administrator of KPS, yet I know in my heart he knew the kids and teachers of KPS better than almost anyone. I'm always going to remember him and emulate the quiet, honest care he bestowed on those around him.

I am so sorry to hear of Larry's accident and death. He was one of the special people at church that always made me feel welcome and helped me to participate in small ways in the service. He made me feel my small contribution was important.

Whenever the bus drove up to the high school and we saw that Larry would be our driver, a collective "woo-hoo" could be heard from all who would be his passengers. We knew that not only would we arrive to our contest/game safely, but that we would also have our number one Bearcat fan cheering us on, congratulating us in victory and consoling us in defeat.
All of us at Kearney High were blessed to have Larry as a part of our family. It was truly an honor to call him my friend

Larry was both a bus driver and an usher at church to me. It was always nice to see him smiling whenever I made it home and ran into him. Just this last spring I had the pleasure of seeing him at a JV track meet in Grand Island where I was coaching for Westside. To the family of Larry. We send our prayers of comfort to you during this very emotional time. Most of us only knew him as Larry the head usher, but he knew each and every one of us by name. He dedicated himself to serving the church family of First Lutheran and he will be forever missed and loved. My daughter was one of the last ones he asked to help with acolyting at the last minute for yesterday's 11:00 service. We have fond memories of life with Larry. He was a good friend to us and a caring mentor to our children. We always trusted Larry to drive the bus with our kids to any event. He cared for all the kids like they were his kids - and in some ways they really were.
Larry was also a friend of ours at First Lutheran Church where he once again drove the kids on the bus! But he did so much more for our church and for the people there. Always positive, caring, and a true servant to others.

Larry will be missed by Kearney Public Schools. He was such a great influence in the lives of the kids and coaches. He would get up in front of the bus and tell the kids his name, then the rules he wanted us to follow then came his little speech. We will be the gracious guests of (the school we were competing). We expect you to be display good sportsmanship and go out and kick there "fannies."
He was so positive and loved to cheer on the kids. When we go to other schools with former Kearney students that are now coaching they would always go up and greet Larry and he will forever be know as "Larry the Bus Driver...

I always enjoyed our brief visits in church. Yesterday, he reminded me about losing my son in a corn field last week. Davis was helping him lay irrigation pipe and he sent Davis around the field one way. 20 minutes later, Davis - Larry - and others were using cell phones to find each other. All Larry could say Sunday was, "Well, we tried to lose your son in the field, but he eventually came back." As always he could enjoy a chuckle even in the simple struggles of day to day life.

Larry will be missed by all who came in contact with him. He is a great reminder to us all of how to live our lives, with passion and a positive, caring attitude.

I was saddened to see Larry had died from an accident. We had some very close and meaningful times together.
May God be with you the family.

What a great loss to the entire community. Larry will always be remembered as a great friend to all he come in contact with. Students, Coaches, will always remember the way he could console after a loss.
