Loyd R. Andrews, 88, of Kearney, passed away Wednesday, July 16, 2025, at CHI Good Samaritan Hospital in Kearney.

Funeral services will be 10 a.m., Monday, July 21, 2025, at O'Brien Straatmann Redinger Funeral Home in Kearney, with the Rev. Sharon Rees officiating. Interment will follow at Shelton Cemetery with military honors provided by Kearney American Legion Post #52 and VFW Post #759, in conjunction with the Nebraska National Guard Funeral Honors Team. Visitation will be 5 to 7 p.m., Sunday, at the funeral home.

Loyd was born July 9, 1937, in Alliance, Neb., to Irvin and Marjorie (Taylor) Craig. He was raised in Alliance, Neb., and graduated from Alliance High School. He later attended Kearney State College. On February 3, 1957, Loyd was united in marriage to Marlene Helser. Loyd proudly served in the U.S. Army from 1960 until his honorable discharge in 1962. He worked at Rockwell, Eaton Corp and Chief Industries. Most recently he worked at Apple Market.

Loyd later married Marion Cervantes on September 18, 2020. He enjoyed classic cars and going for car rides. Loyd was a member of the Kearney Volunteer Fire Department for 25 years and a longtime member of the Kearney American Legion, VFW and Eagle's Club.

Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Marion Andrews; stepchildren, Charles Cervantes, Dolores Cervantes, Nancy Beebee, and Michael Cervantes; several step-grandchildren and great-grandchildren; siblings, Darrell Craig, Ardith Robinson, Loren Craig and Bob Craig; as well as many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

Loyd was preceded in death by his parents; first wife, Marlene Andrews; and siblings, Mary, Marge, Carol, Lyle, Gary and Larry.
