Richard "Dick" Raymond Schultz, age 86, of Dell Rapids, SD, passed away on Sunday, September 10, 2023. A visitation will be from 9:30 to 11:00 AM, Wednesday, September 13, 2023 at the Minnehaha Funeral Home, Dell Rapids. Interment will follow at the Dell Rapids Cemetery.
Richard Raymond Schultz was born August 5, 1937 in Webster, SD to Raymond and Anna (Pekron) Schultz. He grew up on a farm in Grenville, SD. The family later moved to the Garretson area where Dick met Darlene. Dick married Darlene Brobjorg on Sept 28, 1961 and they had 3 children. Dick was a do-it-yourselfer and held a variety of jobs to support his family.
He served in the Army and was employed as a farm hand, grocery store worker, gas station manager, car body repairman, plumber, overhead garage door installer, garbage man, trailer painter, all around fix it guy and day care provider.
He enjoyed working on cars, fishing, bowling, restoring old houses, playing cards especially spades and was a cat lover.
Survivors include his wife of 62 years Darlene (Brobjorg), children; Nancy (Mike) Hoffman, Ken (Laurie) Schultz, Cheryl (Jim) Bruggeman all of Dell Rapids. Brother, Larry (Linda) Schultz of Harrisburg, and sister, Delores (Wayne) DeSplinter, Jasper, MN. 7 grandchildren; Jeff Hoffman, Andrew (Tiana) Thompson, Matt Hoffman, Ashley (James) Kroon, Steven Hoffman, Kelsey (Dylan) Nelsen, and Beth Bruggeman plus 7 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, 2 brothers; Roy Schultz of Casper, WY and Donald Schultz of Phillip, SD and 1 sister; Loretta Duffy of Luverne, MN.
