Ann Caldwell Obituary

Ann Paxton Caldwell

August 9, 1939 - December 17, 2024

Cynthiana, Kentucky - Ann Paxton Caldwell, 85, born August 9, 1939 of Cynthiana, KY went home to be with the Lord on December 17, 2024 after a short illness at Central Baptist Hospital in Lexington. She was preceded in death by her parents, Roger Furnish Caldwell and Paxton Ross Caldwell; and brother, Roger Victor Caldwell.

Ann was a graduate of Harrison County High School and Transylvania University, where she was a member of Delta Delta Delta Sorority.

She began her teaching career in Louisville but moved to Lexington where she taught 5th grade at Deep Springs Elementary School for over thirty years. Ann was the teacher every student wanted to have. She had an extraordinary gift for connecting with her students, making them all feel as if they were her favorite student.

Ann was dedicated to her students and the teaching profession, as a whole. She was a loyal and faithful member of the Fayette County Education Association and Kentucky Education Association. Upon retirement, she continued to lead and mentor teachers as a board member of the KEA-Retired. She was an avid UK Wildcats fan, traveling with the UK Basketball team for years to tournaments across the country and the globe. But she remained loyal to her alma mater volunteering her time and service to numerous Transylvania Alumni Association events.

Ann was the epitome of friendship and leaves behind a legacy of kindness and compassion. Her plethora of friends and family will deeply miss her and are forever grateful for having known her.

Funeral services will be held December 23, 2024, at 1:00 P.M. at Ware Funeral Home, 910 U.S. 27, Cynthiana, KY 41031 with visitation prior to service from 11:00 A.M. to 1:00 P.M. Ann Caldwell was honored with a moment of silence at the January 2025 meeting of Central Kentucky KEA- Retired. Likewise, a motion was made to make a donation to the scholarship fund she had suggested. How honored all of us were to know her...We will see you again one day, Ann.

Ann sold long-term care policies after she retired from teaching. She convinced my wife to buy a policy. It was not cheap. We took the one with all the bells and whistles. That turned out to be the single best financial decision we could have made. My wife died after a long stretch in a nursing home. She had great care as a result, and I´m protected at no cost until I move on to the next world. Thanks, Ann!

Ann was an exceptional teacher and colleague- we taught together for 20 years. She was the 5th grade teacher to both of my girls and they loved her dearly. We are keeping her family in our prayers.
