Eva Durham Dodson

DODSON Eva Durham, 91, died peacefully Saturday, September 28, 2013 at Sayre Christian Village in Lexington. Born February 5, 1922 in Hart County, KY, she was the daughter of the late Ed and Lilly Durham. She was preceded in death by her husband, James Marshall Dodson, in 1975, one sister, and two brothers. She is survived by her sister, JoAnn Heath, Bonnieville, KY; three sons, James Jr. (Susan) Dodson, C. Edward (Ceeney) Dodson, Albert (Jeanette) Dodson; four grandsons, Eric, Tom, Mike and Lee Dodson; two great-grand-children, Lauren and Isaac Dodson, and many nieces and nephews. Eva was a life-long learner, graduating from the University of Kentucky while raising a family. She enjoyed international travel, nature hikes, gardening, playing cards and word games, and above all, daily Bible reading and church activities. She was a sixty year member of Immanuel Baptist and Woodland Avenue Baptist churches. Eva was the first female office manager for the Nabisco Company during WWII, was secretary for the KY Board of Examiners in Watchmaking and retired as a supervisor, counselor and teacher at Oakwood Mental Health in Somerset, KY. Visitation will be from 5-8pm Friday at Milward-Southland where the funeral service will be held at 1pm Saturday. The burial will be private.
