James Wathen Obituary
July 2, 1938 - May 19, 2023
Nicholasville, Kentucky - James Wathen passed away on May 19, 2023 in Lexington, Kentucky. Jim was a devoted and beloved husband, father and grandfather. Jim loved U.K. sports and spent many hours watching his beloved Wildcats. Above all, Jim was a good man and devout Catholic. James will be terribly missed by his family and friends.
Jim was born July 2, 1938 to the late Joseph Augustine Wathen and Ester Louise Ford Wathen on Valley Creek Road in Elizabethtown, KY. Jim is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Dorothy Grace Wathen, one son Kevin Wathen, grandchildren James and Lynley Wathen and one brother Joseph Wathen. Jim was proceeded in death by his brothers Thomas Wathen and John Wathen and his nephew Mike Wathen. Jim graduated from Elizabethtown Catholic in 1956 and attended The University of Kentucky. Jim worked at Parker Seal Co. in Lexington, KY. It was there where he met the love of his life and future wife, Dorothy "Dot" Wathen.
Funeral services will be held at Pax Christi Catholic Church in Lexington, KY on Saturday, July 1, 2023. Visitation will begin at 9:00 am with service to follow at 11:00 am. Jim's remains will be placed in the Pax Christi peace garden after the services.
