Michael McCann Obituary
April 14, 1942 - October 20, 2022
Lexington, Kentucky - Michael Joseph McCann, 80, Lexington, KY, passed away on October 20, 2022 after a brief illness. He leaves his beloved wife of 35 years, Sharon (Sherry) Jones McCann; his three sons; Jerry Michael McCann, Michael Sean McCann, Brian C. Lykins, and one daughter Julie Ellen Van Deraa (George), and four grandchildren, and many close friends. He was the son of Lee Jerome McCann and Maynell Armistead McCann, a sister Catherine Weissman, and predeceased by two brothers, Richard Lee McCann and Robert John McCann.
Mike grew up in Chicago, Illinois. He joined the USAF and attended the University of Missouri, Kansas City. He was a retired IBM employee after 30 years of service. Mike incorporated the Westmorland Neighborhood Association where he was on the board of Directors. He was a scuba diver until Covid, a Bronze Life Master Bridge player, a 3rd degree Master Mason, 320d degree Scottish Rite Mason and Shriner. He and his wife traveled extensively throughout the world. Private services will be held at Camp Nelson National
Cemetery for the immediate family. A "Celebration of Life" will be held on Sunday, November 27th at their home from 2-6pm.In lieu of flowers, Mike has requested that donation be made to Hospice of the Bluegrass, or Ky Educational TV (KET).
