Sorry for our loss of a wonderful man. He was a kind, considerate and intelligent gentleman. Good to every one who needed a hand. It was a pleasure to have worked with and for him for 30 years.

Philas is missed by all of us "old" ones still with ARH. We have many fond memories of him and grateful memories of teachings; many have benefited me all during my career. He was a special person and Mary was sweet and thoughtful. They made a lovely couple. Still missed ole friend. Anne

My good fortune was to have met Philas Smith in 1980 and to have worked for him and with him for over a decade. He was a wonderful human being and the world is poorer with his passing. May he rest in peace.

Rest in peace, Mr. Smith, with your beautiful wife in heaven. You were a pleasure and privilege to enjoy at Thomson Hood. You are missed.

My thoughts are with Candice, Mia, Marisa, Randall, and Joel. My memories of your kind parents have stayed strong for all these years. They were always so full of the life around them, so eager to enjoy what they found and to engage and support the folks they met. I was lucky to know them. I knew it then. I know it now. Much love. I am so sorry to hear of your loss.

I met Philas when I began working for ARH in 1967. He was a wonderful person, good mentor, and he did have a great sense of humor; beside all of that he was very intelligent and I learned a lot from him over the years. My sincere condolences to his family and loved ones.

So sorry to read of Philas' passing. I worked with him at Appalachian Regional Hospitals in the middle and late 60's. He was a nice, friendly man and it was a pleasure to know him. May God bless the family with comfort and peace.

Dear Jody, Mia, Randy, Marissa, Candy, I am so sorry to hear about your Dad. Knowing he is now in a better place, he was and will always be a special friend I will miss and think of often. I have great memories of him, many in the kitchen of course, sharing stories over a cold one, some cheese and big pot of something simmering on the stove !
You all are in my thoughts and prayers !
