Gloria Johnson Obituary

Gloria Jean Johnson, 78, of Rochester, Minnesota, passed away peacefully on July 29, 2025, just two days shy of her 79th birthday. Born on August 1, 1946, in Rochester, MN, she was the cherished daughter of Donald and Louise (Nichols) Stromberg and loving wife of Dallas Johnson. Gloria was a proud graduate of Dover-Eyota High School, where she twirled baton and played the saxophone. After high school, she pursued her passion for beauty and style by attending beauty school in Rochester, launching a successful career that would touch countless lives. A driven and gifted entrepreneur, Gloria owned three beauty salons and later managed Cost Cutters, where she earned numerous accolades and awards. Her professional achievements were only matched by her strength, resilience, and determination in life. Gloria faced and overcame many health challenges-including a stroke, aneurysm, and cancer-with remarkable courage and grace, never allowing them to define her spirit. Gloria's warmth and wit made her a vibrant presence wherever she went. She loved to socialize, shop, and share a cold beer on the houseboat with her beloved husband Dallas, cruising the Mississippi River and laughing with friends. Her love for dogs knew no bounds, and her honest, strong-willed, and open-hearted nature left a lasting impression on all who knew her. Her charm, her signature big brown eyes, and her forgiving, spirited personality will be deeply missed. Gloria is survived by her loving children: Laura (Brad) King, Donald (Lisa) Stellmaker, Lee Stellmaker, Jason (Laura) Camp, Brent (Maria) Johnson, and Francesca Johnson (Scott Powers); her beloved grandchildren: Nick, Sam, Christian, Gracelyn, Jack, Max, Benjamin, Kodiak, Tyler; Brian and Jocelyn and two great-grandchildren, Cora and Sebastian. She is also survived by her sister, Cindy (Bob) Freeman. She was preceded in death by her devoted husband, Dallas Johnson. Gloria's life was a testament to love, resilience, and authenticity. She leaves behind a legacy of strength, laughter, and deep devotion to family and friends. A memorial service will be held 12:00 p.m. Saturday, August 23, 2025 at the River Park Chapel at Macken Funeral Home, 1105 12th St. SE, Rochester. Visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. until time of the service. Burial will be at Oakwood Cemetery. To share a special memory or condolence, please visit www.mackenfuneralhome.com
