Lynwood Smith Obituary

DOVER | Lynwood Allen Smith, 71, passed away Sunday, October 16, 2016, at CarolinaEast Medical Center in New Bern. Known as "Smitty" to all, he served his country in the U.S. Army and retired from Biemann & Rowell ten years prior to his passing. He was proud of his community and served multiple terms on the town board. Smitty was an avid fisherman but most enjoyed spending time with his family and caring for his wife. Smitty was admired by many in the community and so very proud of his children and only granddaughter that he affectionately called "Baby." His unconditional love for his family was admired by all. Funeral services will be held at 6 p.m. on Thursday, October 20, 2016, from the Dover United Methodist Church with the Reverend Clint White officiating. A private interment will be held at Westview Cemetery. The family will receive friends immediately following the service and other times at his home. Lynwood is survived by his wife of 52 years, Mady Smith of the home; two daughters, Verna Lynn Smith of Dover and Alena Davis and husband Daniel, of Kinston; a granddaughter, Leah Sugg; and a brother, Stanley Smith of Las Vegas, NV.
