Alta Mae Hicks

Oak Ridge, TN

Alta Mae Hicks, 93, formerly of Oak Ridge, passed away Tuesday, June 26, 2018 at Life Care Center of Morgan County in Wartburg. She was born June 3, 1925 in Horse Lick, North Carolina, the daughter of James and Minnie Greer Wyatt and raised in the Iron Mountain community of Chilhowie, Virginia. Mrs. Hicks was an avid gardener and worked for many years at Ridge Greenhouse and Florist where she was a plant cultivator. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by husband, James L. Hicks and infant son, Daniel Hicks. She is survived by son, Stephen Lee Hicks of Harriman and brother-in-law, William Hicks and wife Faye of Coalfield. The family will receive friends on Saturday, June 30, 2018 from 11:30 -1:30pm at Weatherford Mortuary. The funeral will begin at 1:30 with Jodie Nazaroff officiating. Interment will follow at Oak Ridge Memorial Park. An on-line guest book can be signed at www.weatherfordmortuary.com.
