Jane Regas Obituary

REGAS, JANE M. - March 27, 1931- November 11, 2011. It is with great sadness that we share with you the death of Jane Regas. Jane died on Thursday, November 11, 2011, at the age of 79 surrounded by her loving family. Born Mary Jane Miller in Knoxville, Tennessee in 1931, she was the daughter of Albert Miller, Sr. and Mary Guthrie Miller. She spent her early childhood in Yancy, Kentucky, where her grandfather owned the coal mine. When Jane was a young girl, her family moved to New York City and then back to Knoxville, Tennessee. Jane was an accomplished dancer and voracious reader and was dancing and reading up to her final months. In 1952, she married George Regas, whom she had met while attending University of Tennessee, and moved with him to Cambridge, MA, Pulaski ,TN, Cambridge, England, Nyack ,NY and on to Pasadena, CA where they raised their four children. Jane returned to Knoxville where she continued her successful real estate career and founded Regas Real Estate. She was active in the Knoxville community, serving to raise funds for many local charities. In Knoxville, she greatly enjoyed the company of her friends of over 50 years, Frankie Regas and William Regas. Jane's beloved daughter Michelle predeceased her in June of 2002, and she is survived by her daughter Susan Regas and son-in-law Robert Riewerts of Pasadena, CA; sons Timothy Regas of Venice, CA, and Tyler Regas of Los Angeles, CA; and son-in-law Tom Worrel. She is also survived by her grandchildren Nicholas Regas-Riewerts, Jennifer Regas-Riewerts, Alexandra Regas-Riewerts, Wesley Worrel, and Leah Regas, and by her brother, Albert Miller, Jr. of Knoxville, TN. Jane will be remembered for her keen mind, an engaging interest in others, her beauty and sense of style, her love for her Corgi Dookie, and the appreciation she showed for her care giver, Jessika Martinez. She will especially be remembered as a caring and nurturing mother and as a proud grandmother. A memorial service will be held at All Saints Episcopal Church in Pasadena on Friday, November 26th at 2pm. Cabot & Sons, Pasadena Directors.

She was my first cousin,I lived in Yancey too. I last saw her when I was 12, shewas a charmer and pretty as girls can get.
