KATE DOSSETT Obituary

DOSSETT, KATE MAURY HARDING - age 86, of Knoxville passed away peacefully on November 14, 2012
at Tennova Residential Hospice. Ms. Dossett was born January 2, 1926 in Vicksburg, Mississippi to James Brooke Harding and Elizabeth Morrison Harding. She was predeceased by her parents, her sister, Elizabeth Harding Raseman, and a daughter, Elizabeth Harding Dossett. She is survived by daughters, Judith Dossett Hughes of Woodstock, VT and Mary Dossett Bryan of Maynardville, TN. She was grandmother to Rebecca Kate Bryan of Knoxville, TN and Samuel Joseph Hughes of Annapolis, MD, as well as several nieces and nephews. Ms. Dossett graduated from City High School in Knoxville, TN in 1944
and attended the University of Tennessee for two years.
She married Joseph W. Dossett, Jr. on December 22, 1948.
Ms. Dossett worked in student services at the University of Tennessee College of Law for 20 years where she was well-loved by students and staff. After retirement, Kate volunteered at the University of Tennessee Medical Center, devoting over 4,000 hours
there. She loved flower gardening and was a member of the Knoxville Garden Club for a number of years. She also loved playing bridge and did so with the same bridge club for close to 40 years. Ms. Dossett was a long time member of the Tennessee Valley Unitarian Universalist Church in Knoxville, TN where a memorial service and celebration of her life will be held on December 15, 2012 at 3:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Tennessee Valley
Unitarian Universalist Church, Knoxville. Ms. Dossett was cremated through Cremation Options in Knoxville. Her cremains will be transported to Vicksburg, MS for their final resting place.

Kate will be sadly missed by all her friends at the UT Law School. I worked with Kate in the late 80's before she retired. Kate was a classy lady, who was truly devoted to our students and contributed greatly to their law school experience - and they loved her. Our prayers are with you.
