Mary Emanuel Obituary

EMANUEL, MARY LOU MASSENGILL - went to be with her Lord, Feb. 18, 2010, at the age of 81. She is survived by her husband, Wayne Emanuel;, two sons and two daughters, Barton Emanuel of Manassas, VA; David Emanuel of Knoxville, TN; Grace Ritter and Barbara Poe, both of Birmingham, AL; six grandchildren, Marissa Emanuel, Thomas Emanuel, Andrew Emanuel, Jessica Bartlet, Ashlyn Poe, and Lauren Poe; and an identical twin sister, Betty Sue Peters of Hillsdale, MI. Mary Lou was born and reared in Middlesboro, KY. She served as a missionary nurse to Japan for 37 years under the auspices of Southern Baptist International Mission Board, serving at the Japan Baptist Hospital in Kyoto and as Director of the Japan Baptist School of Nursing. She was well loved by missionaries and Japanese alike. Following retirement, Mary Lou and Wayne lived in Knoxville (before moving to Birmingham) and were members of the Church at Sterchi Hills. A MEMORIAL SERVICE will be held Sat., March 27, 10:30, a.m. at First Baptist Church, Middlesboro, KY. (Visitation from 9:45) Graveside service to follow at Green Hills Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations for the Japan Baptist School of Nursing, may be sent to Lakeside Baptist Church, 2865 Old Rocky Ridge Rd, Birmingham, AL 35243.

We can clearly remember the smiles of Mrs Mary Lou Emanuel. It is not easy to think she is no longer with us, even though we know we will see her again in Heaven. May the comfort of God help you during this difficult time.
