Thelma B. Demaree, age 84, went home to be with the Lord on May 31, 2018. A well respected wife and mother, Thelma will always be remembered for her faith, love of family, and giving of her time to others. Born in Knoxville, Tennessee, she graduated from Gibbs High School in Corryton and shortly after moved to Plainfield, Indiana to work at Public Service and went on to marry Jim, her beloved husband of 61 years, in Greensburg, Indiana January 1955. After moving to Northfield, New Jersey in 1959, Jim and Thelma were active in scouting, athletics, and the Northfield United Methodist Church. She enjoyed gardening, square dancing, cooking, visits to the beach, and spending time with her friends from church. Thelma also worked in the printing business for 20 years and was employed as an administrative assistant until her retirement. Upon Jim's retirement from the Federal Aviation Administration in 1990, they returned to Corryton.

She was a faithful member of Clapps Chapel United Methodist Church. She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 61 years, James E. Demaree, parents Nick J. and Susie Corum (Wilkerson) and brothers Raymond Corum, Willis Corum, A.G. Corum. Thelma is survived and will be deeply missed by daughter Teresa Goldschmitt and husband Eric; sons Duane Demaree and wife Pamela, Richard Demaree and wife Carolyn, and James R. Demaree; grandchildren Jill, Dillon, Elisabeth, Caroline, Jackson, Harris; and many extended family and friends she loved.

The family will be receiving friends at Gentry Griffey Funeral Chapel on Sunday, June 3rd from 5 - 7pm. The funeral will begin at 7pm with Rev. Bill Akers officiating. A graveside service will be held at Greenwood Cemetery on Monday, June 4th at 9am.
