AUBURN - David L. Ennis, 81, of Auburn, Indiana, passed away on Thursday, Oct. 5, 2023.
He was born on Aug. 23, 1942, in Denver, Colorado. After high school, he earned an associate's degree from Purdue University.
David married June R. Harding on Dec. 7, 1963, in Garrett, Indiana. She preceded him in death on March 29, 2020.
He worked as an engineering specialist for ITT Aerospace in Fort Wayne for 22 years, retiring in 2007. He was also on the Magnavox design team that designed Magnavox's first video game called "Odyssey" in the early 1970s.
David was an avid chess player and he was a member of the United States Chess Federation. He also enjoyed flying RC airplanes.
Survivors include his daughter, Laurie Ennis, of Auburn; son and daughter-in-law, Kent and Jennifer Ennis, of Fort Wayne; six grandchildren, Amanda, Elizabeth, Chelesa, Devon, Alexa and Olivia; two great-grandchildren, Jackson and Preston; sisters and brother-in-law, Luanne and Howard Hanes, of Advance, North Carolina; sister, Lana Mae Howard, of Auburn; two nephews; and one niece.
David was preceded in death by his father, Paul Ennis; and his mother, Lois Mae (Green) Reddy; wife, June Ennis; and brother-in-law, Paul Howard.
Private family graveside services will be held at Woodlawn Cemetery in Auburn, at a later date.
Memorial donations may be given to the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 681405, Indianapolis, IN 46268 and DeKalb Humane Society, 5730 C.R. 11A, Auburn, IN 46706.

I´m sorry of your loss ! Both your parents were so nice to me growing up and I got to see your dad this year at the nursing home and have a wonderful time together reminiscing about life. When I left him he had a wonderful smile and I know I did in my heart !
