HUDSON - Michael Jay "Mike" Chorpenning, 75, of Hudson, Indiana, died on Friday, Jan. 10, 2025, at his residence, due to multiple health issues.
He was born July 27, 1949, in Auburn, Indiana, to Lawrence and Maxine (Mason) Chorpenning.
In November 1971, in Pleasant Lake he married Cynthia Ann "Cyndy" Loucks.
Mr. Chorpenning retired from the Eaton Corporation in Auburn. He was a member of the UAW Local 164.
Mike was a proud American. He was also an outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting, fishing, deer-watching, and bird-watching. He had previously worked for the Steuben County DNR and dabbled in taxidermy. Mike liked all animals, but his greatest enjoyment was his family.
Surviving are his wife of 54 years, Cyndy Chorpenning, of Hudson; a son, Jayson (Deidri) Chorpenning, of Ashley; a daughter, Charleen (Brent Novotny) Dargis, of Hudson; five grandchildren, Kayla Maestas, Taylor Murley, Cameron (Emily) Dargis, Danielle Dargis and Mason Dargis; and three great-grandchildren, Wren Murley, Eli Maestas and Grey Maestas.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Kerry Chorpenning.
A memorial service will be held on Monday, Jan. 20, 2025, at noon, at Young Family Funeral Home, Hudson-Ashley Chapel, 612 N. Main St., Hudson, with Pastor Craig Burkholder of Hudson United Brethren Church officiating.
The family will receive friends on Monday, Jan. 20, 2025, from 10 a.m. to noon.
Private burial will be at Circle Cemetery near Hudson.
Preferred memorials may be made to Hudson United Brethren Church or the Steuben County Humane Society.
