Ben Plemons

Funeral services for Ben Plemons, age 33, of West Point, Nebraska, will be held on Saturday, May 31, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in West Point. Visitation will take place on Friday, May 30, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Minnick Funeral Home in West Point, and will continue one hour prior to the service at the church on Saturday. Ben passed away on Saturday, May 24, 2025. Born on October 30, 1991, in Birmingham, Alabama, Ben was the son of Melanie (Payton) and Phillip Plemons. He graduated from Vestavia Hills High School in 2010 and went on to attend Auburn University. After moving to Houston, Texas, Ben met Nikki Anderson. The couple relocated to Nebraska and were married on July 19, 2017, at the courthouse in Lexington, Nebraska. They later celebrated their marriage with family and friends on October 7, 2017, in Kearney. This union was blessed with one son, Owen Daniel. Ben had a calling for helping people in crisis, even as a young man. Following this calling, Ben served as a police officer in Gordon, Nebraska. In 2020, he became the Chief of Police for the Dodge/Snyder Police Department, before becoming a deputy with the Cuming County Sheriff's Office. Ben had a deep love for Jesus and for life itself. He was always eager to share his faith and never met a stranger-he could carry on a conversation with anyone. He enjoyed reading the Bible, spending time outdoors-especially fishing, golfing, and playing with Owen. A passionate sports fan, Ben cheered for teams across the board, especially his beloved Auburn Tigers. Among his many life experiences, Ben was proud to have completed a marathon, visited all 50 states, and participated in a medical mission trip to Moldova. Above all, Ben would say his greatest joy and fulfillment came from being a loving husband and father. Survivors include: wife, Nikki Plemons of West Point, NE and their son, Owen; father, Phillip (Stacie) Plemons, Sr. of Birmingham, AL; mother, Melanie (Randy) Armstrong of Leeds, AL; paternal grandparents, John and Reba Plemons of Helena, AL; siblings: Haley (Brooks) Werk of Birmingham, AL, Phillip Plemons, Jr. of Homewood, AL, Jackson Plemons of Birmingham, AL, Rebekah Plemons of Birmingham, AL, and many other family and friends. Ben was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents-Billy Wade Payton and Janice (Henley) Payton.
