William Renn Obituary

William David "Bill" Renn Sr., 73, of Bardstown, formerly of Louisville, passed away Monday, March 13, 2023, at Norton Women and Children's Hospital. He was born on July 2, 1949, in Louisville to Lawrence Jr. and Frances Kirby Renn. Bill was a teacher at Valley High School from 1972-2001 then taught at DeSales High School until his retirement from 2003-2005. After retiring he became a tour guide for My Old Kentucky Home State Park and then Heaven Hill Distillery. Bill was of the Methodist faith. He was a former Mid Kentucky Chorus member and loved watching the Louisville Bats.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Frances Kirby Renn.
Bill is survived by his wife of 48 years, Kathleen Hedgepeth Renn; two sons, William David (Tracey) Renn Jr. of Bardstown, Christopher Allan (Michelle) Renn of Kansas City, Mo.; his father, Lawrence Renn Jr. of Louisville; two sisters, Jean (Tom) Hudson and Susan (Ernie) Amburgey, both of Louisville; two brothers, Don (Marta) Renn of Louisville and Bob (Donna) Renn of Florence; six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
The funeral will be 9 a.m. Friday, March 17, at Houghlin Greenwell Funeral Home with the Rev. Dustin Hungerford officiating. Interment will be in Cave Hill Cemetery.
Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Thursday, March 16, and after 8:30 a.m. Friday, March 17, at the funeral home and continue to 11:30 a.m.
The family requests contributions be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
Houghlin Greenwell Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Bill Renn is someone you remember the 1st time that you meet him.He always friendly and smiles.Easy to talk too.We have known the Renn family for many years and they are such a nice family.Prayers for his family and friends

My condolences to the family and friends on the passing of Mr. Renn. He touched so many young lives for the good during his teaching career. Students adored him. He loved his family amd was devoted to them. I'm very grateful to have known him at Valley High. He always had a grin and a terrific sense of humor. With deepest sympathy.

Sending my deepest condolences to the family. Mr. Renn was by far my favorite teacher. He taught my parents, several aunts and uncles and two of my siblings. He definitely made a big impact on a lot of people. VHS- class of 98 (pic is from reunion)
