Michael David Westbrook

1941 - 2021

Michael David Westbrook, 80, of Jacksboro, passed this worldly life on Friday, Nov. 5. He was born on Sept. 20, 1941, to the late Fredrich J. and Mary Jane Steele Westbrook of Altoona, Pennsylvania in Blair County.

Mike met his wife, Jane Wood Westbrook, of Jacksboro, when they were attending East Tennessee State University.

Mike was a graduate of Altoona High School where he played football. After high school, he attended Catawba College in North Carolina. Later, Mike transferred to ETSU, where he played football and was also in the ROTC program. He received his 2nd lieutenant commission and graduated, receiving a BS and an MBA degree.

Mike served in the U.S. Army stationed at Colorado Springs, Colorado, and in Korea at the DMZ area during the Vietnam War.

Mike is preceded in death by his parents; grandmother, Susie Steele; and favorite uncle, Jerry Steele, all of Altoona, Pennsylvania.

He is also preceded in death by his mother and father-in-law, Meather O. and Ola B. Wood; and brother and sister-in-law, Dr. Burgin H. and Virginia J. Wood.

Mike is survived by his wife, Jane; nieces and nephews; and a host of other family and friends to mourn his passing.

The family wishes to thank the caregivers and Tennessee Veterans Home, Ben Atchley, for the excellent care given to Mike.

Family and friends will meet at 1 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 11 at Cross-Smith Funeral Home and proceed to Jacksboro Cemetery for a 2 p.m. graveside service and interment with the Rev. Keith Hampton officiating and military honors given by the Campbell County Honor Guard.
