Nikia Jernigan Obituary

Nikia Artrice Jernigan was born June 21, 1984, to Christanna Williams and Nelson Taylor in Shands Hospital, Gainesville, Florida.
Nikia accepted Christ at an early age, later in life still serving the Lord, joined Elevate Life Church under the leadership of Pastor Tim Staier, Jacksonville, FL. On May 14, 2025, God called, and Nikia answered her Master's voice.
Nikia attended the public schools of Columbia County, receiving her High School diploma in the Adult Education program, subsequently furthering her education at Florida Gateway College receiving certification in Cosmetology, becoming a licensed cosmetologist. She had a passion for doing hair, obtaining employment at SmartStyle Salon as the Salon's Manager, later relocating to Jacksonville, FL to Hair Cutters as the store manager. After fulfilling her dream, she wanted to switch careers. In this change Nakia gained employment with JTA (Jacksonville Transportation Authority) the last 2 years.
Nikia met the love of her life in 1999, and there was an instant love connection. After dating and the love growing stronger, Nakia was united in Holy Matrimony to Shaneil Jernigan on December 16, 2016.
Nikia is proceeded in death by her grandmother, Annie L. Cooper; grandfather, Andrew Freeman; and great-grandparents, Lizzie Lee, Albertha and Lemmie Johnson.
She leaves to cherish memories: her loving and devoted wife, Shaneil Jernigan; son, Landyn Jernigan; her loving mother, Christanna Williams (James); stepfather, Wilbur Bradley; sisters, A'Nancia Bradley, Ann-Nissa Bradley; brother, Doreyon Taylor; paternal grandmother, Melbita Curry; mother-in-law, Gloria Jernigan; father-in-law, Ronald Jernigan Sr; brother-in-law, Ronald Jernigan Jr; godchild, Raelyn Greene; hosts of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
A Celebration of Nikia A. Jernigan's life will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, May 24, 2025, at New Day Spring Missionary Baptist Church, 709 NW Long St., Lake City, FL.
Visitation will be from 5:00 - 6:00 p.m. Friday, May 23, 2025, at the funeral home.

Kia, I will always cherish the fun memories that we have shared and the power talks! We was suppose to be cruising in August now we have to cruise without you but know we will still be thinking of you every second on the cruise! Just know I got Landyn and Neil and I love you! Take your rest baby as we try to learn to live without you.... It´s hurting us like crazy but we are trusting in God to get us through! We love you but God loves you more!!! Fly high baby!!!
