Janet Lee Jarrett
Janet Lee Jarrett was born July 24, 1936, in Lakeview, to Theodore and Beulah (Brammer) Wood and joined a sister Barbra and brother John.
She passed away in Lakeview on Sept. 19, 2024, at Lake District Hospital.
Janet lived her life in Lakeview except for two years during World War II when her parents both worked at the Navy Yard in Bremerton, Wash., and one school year at Oregon State College.
Once, "because she was born here and still lived here" a newcomer said, "You only like it here because you never lived anywhere else." Her reply was, "No, it's because I love it and there is no place I can't get to from here." Well, get there she did. She's visited family and friends all over the country, from coast to coast, toured Washington D.C., the Alamo, Grand Canyon and Yellowstone to name a few.
On Aug. 21, 1955, she married Elmer Jarrett. They have three children, Marla, Bradley, and Nelson.
Janet was not a hunter, fisherman nor much of a camper, but she loved to go where her family would be because they all loved it and there was always food and relaxation. Family was always the most important part of her life, and she did all she could to help and be there for them.
Janet was involved with Job's Daughters as a member and later was Bethel Guardian for several years, a member of the American Legion Auxiliary, a Blue Bird group leader for two years, helped with Boy Scouts, Little League and Babe Ruth baseball and was on the original board that set up The Opportunity Shop. She belonged to Firettes until the group disbanded and played cards at the Elks Lodge for many years. She bowled in several leagues for years and went to a lot of state and national tournaments. She also helped Marla and Ray when they ran the kitchen at the Lakeview Elks Lodge.
Janet grew up hanging out at The Hotel Lakeview, that later became the Indian Village, because her grandmother and mother both worked there. Later she worked there too as a waitress and then a bartender. Her other jobs were lots of babysitting, the Marius and Alger Theaters, Hunters Lodge and 22 years for Fremont National Forest.
Janet was proceeded in death by her husband Elmer, her parents, grandparents, son Bradley, sister Barbra Welp and brother John Wood.
She is survived by daughter Marla (Ray) Turner; son Nelson Jarrett; daughter-in-law Clair Jarrett Sandell; five grandchildren, Dusty Turner (Chenelle), Dawn Turner, Suzie (Greg) McCully, Lara Jarrett (Casey Solan), Theodore Jarrett; and 11 great grandchildren, Michael (Makayla) McCully, Tucker Roberts, Kyrstin Roberts, Quincy Pointere, Derrick Dunn of Lakeview, Trenton Shipman (Emily) and Dylan Rose (Emma) of Klamath Falls, Austin Turner of Clarkston, Wash., Khloe Solan, Silas Solan, Leah Solan, and Asher Solan of Spokane, Wash., Deyona Hopper Furuheim of Vancouver, Wash., Janin Phongsavat of Vancouver, Wash.; great great granddaughter Raegan McCully of Lakeview, and several special nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
